Bad formula in Balance Mod ?

Submitted by TT91 on Sun, 2007-12-02 20:34. SE:V MODs

I am puzzled by one of the formulas for mine sweeper :
Ability 1 description : Get_Empire_Tech_Level_Mines >= ([%level%]*4)-3
Does it means that we can have only level 1 (mines=1), 2 (mines=5), 3 (mines=9)?

Or that the good formula would be "(level*2)-1", like mine layer?

Yes, there's only 3 levels of mine sweeper.

However, since the limits per sector are not being enforced and minefields of over 100 are easily possible, I'll likely increase the number of levels.

I do hope that this 100 mine limit per sector is not reactivated as it makes the game more realistic and interesting.

In SE4 all you needed to do was make sure your fleets could clear 100 mines and then you didn't have to worry about mines anymore.

This way it is alot more fun!

I think having an option of no limits on mine fields or the limit of 100 (or some other number) would be a nice option for the player to decide on game creation.

It's already defined in settings.txt, but it's not being enforced.

Yes that may be so Captain, but what I think unnamed means is that when you start a new game, just as you can set the unit limits and ship limits, there should be a set mine limit option...so that it is not just dependent on the mod you use.
