Why?

Submitted by Grumble314 on Fri, 2006-10-13 12:00. Space Empires V General

Just curious if someone knows why a combat would stop when you're attacking a planet the ship has full supplies and ordinance in fact moved it to kill another planet but any attack on this tiny planet stops before the ship even reaches the planet.

I've seen this happen too.

I've definately noticed this also. I looked at the planet report and it had 0 for the population. It might be that combat resolves once all population and facilities are destroyed on the planet. For some reason it seems the planet still remains colonized after 0 population.

Another patch fix

Submitted by Phoenix-D on Fri, 2006-10-13 22:09.

The planet doesn't count as "owned" anymore once all the population is dead, so the game thinks your ships have nothing to fight and ends combat.

Well had to get it closer

Submitted by Grumble314 on Fri, 2006-10-13 22:27.

Well had to get it closer using 5 movement as it stopped after 5sec each time then it was close enough to fire at the planet and finish it. Glad it at least remembers where the ship was each time.

Sector View

If this happens, you can go into the "Sector View" and move your ship right next to the Planet and attack again. Should save some movement points.
