Ramming Planets

Submitted by Harmonious Hegemony on Sat, 2007-12-01 13:22. Space Empires V General

I'm playing a balance mod game and I just had an enemy colony ship ram a planet on which I had a newly established colony of my own. It took out the entire colony. Now I can understand a colony ship ramming another ship when it is not going to survive in any case, but suiciding all of its colonists into a planet? Why wouldn't it just move on to live, establish its own colony and fight another day. And should one ship ramming into a planet take out an entire colony? Dirty rotten bloodthirsty AI.

It highly depends on how much stuff is on planet. eg. build few troops/fighters (anything small is sufficient) and pack it in colony ship with population, then new colony should survive suicede colony ship.

But i never bother with this, i just capture that colony ship or destroy it with one fighter on WP.

Yeah, it got me before I could construct a WP.

If a colony ship has cargo, does it get transferred to the planet during colonization? I never tried putting weapon platforms, satellites or troops in the cargo hold of a colony ship.

Satellites are nice too as they let you see enemies coming.
