saving empire to file |

a strange thing maybe I'm overlooking something...
- new game (1.63 with BM 1.11)
- load a specific game setup
- load a specific empire
all well, I'm playing around with list layouts and saving empire.
Here's the thing...
- making a new game again
- loading same specific game setup
- loading same specific empire (only with modified list layouts)
I'm gettin a message like "empire cannot be selected-loaded because has more research points alocated than game setup allows"
???
I haven't used "save empire" option before during game.
is it a bug or I'm missing something obvious?

Good to hear that it works
Now, let's hope that this 'problem' gets included in a future patch.

Re: saving empire to file
Well, I've just went and researched it on 1.58 and 1.63 and it occurs in both of the versions.
The reason for it ?
We know that at the beginning of the game you receive a free "xxx planet colonization" tech, level 1, depending on the type of planet your race lives on. That means, a new empire has "obtained" a new tech (without even taking a turn) and so the empire is illegal.
How to avoid it ?
Before loading the empire, change the "tech points for new players" to 1 000 000 (more than the tech cost for the colonization tech, which is 200 000 in default settings-stock). Now, load your empire and edit it - remove the colonization tech (don't worry, you'll get an appropriate one anyway in a new game). The finishing touch is to tune down the "tech points for new players" down to none (or whatever setting you're using).
Worked for me in both versions, can anyone confirm it.
