Well, I just confirmed that the engine sound linked to the bitmap effect engine glow will not work Sad sad, wanted a little more cheese for the game...

It's an artifact from the "Star Fury" data format used in SE:V.

That would explain allot since I have Starfury as well.

Thanks Kwok, little things like this could keep me busy trying to figure them out for weeks...

In space, no one can hear you scream or hear your engines running Smiling

the advanced computers of future spacecraft would certainly simulate full surround sound effects of moving objects and weapons fire to allow human operators the fastest and most comprehensive update on events otherwise not appreciated in their full most fatal consequences.

Auditory input is processed faster by the human brain than visual.

Tactile is faster than either.

So, it makes sense to include both feedback systems in a ship that requires reflexes (like a fighter) when they would otherwise be absent.

My confidence in the geek factor is re-newed, good to hear some technical thinking that only certain forums would understand:)

Anyone read Timothy Zahn (I think the Conquerers Series) and the CopperHead concept of fighter to human integration?

While Telumehtar and Gideon make good points, it seems they are both focusing on human physiology. Sure, going by most of the race portraits, you could say that most of the races have some form of auditory input, but it could be better or worse than human. And do the EEE really have ears?

Second is that both posts use the viewpoint of the crew inside the ship. Yes sound would be inside the ship and yes it could be computer simulated for the crew of their surroundings outside, but our viewpoint is from well outside the ship or ships. So should we change some of the armor slots to speaker slots to broadcast sound waves or change it to RF energy so a receiver ship could interpret the sounds.

Anyway I'm just being annoying today Smiling
