Just how Deadly is Deadly?

Submitted by Brad on Thu, 2007-11-08 15:17. SE:V MODs

What are the numbers for planet conditions? Specifically, how low can they go? The reason I ask is that a planet damaged by intel tends to go to Deadly and can't recover no matter how high a level climate control facility I have.

There's a chart here valid for SE5:
http://wiki.spaceempires.net/index.php/Facilities_%28SEIV%29#Climate_Control_Facilities

It also explains how the Climate Control facility works. However I wouldn't be surprised if a planet with 0.0 for conditions never improved as 0 * % will always be 0. Sticking out tongue

Huh, this was meant to be in SEV General, not Mods. Oh well.

So if the max value is 1.5, the intel thing is way too harsh. Since the minimum it reduces conditions by is 1 (and max is 10!). And condition improvers multiply instead of just adding, I see. I think I might add a condition to the script reducing it to a minimum of .01 or something, so that at least it can be recovered from.

Actually you should check how it does rounding. if it always round up then there's no problem.

I think it may truncate, seen that allot in the scripts when decimal numbers where used.

The event is possibly in 10ths of a percent, rather than whole numbers.

According to the docs it's a Long.

Right, and the game might be treating the value as a tenth (or even hundredth) of a percent, rather than a whole number. Refer to how chance values in StellarAbilityTypes.txt function, for example.

This is fixed in version 1.62 as the improvement of the climate control facility is now additive not multiplicative.
