Data files do not match

Submitted by thirdbatt on Mon, 2007-11-05 12:52. Space Empires V General

So I got the following error when I attempted to start my last game up.

"The data files currently being used do not match the data files that were used when this game was started. Please check with your host to get the correct data files."

patch1.58/BM1.11

This is a solo game.

Comes up the same for all saved versions of the game. Same thing happened on a previous game as well.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Thanks,
chad

did you play it before 1.11, then updated and now try to continue it??
i think there was a savegame-breake in 1.10, so if you try to continue an older savegame that could be the problem.

Nope, started it with 1.11/1.58. Didn't even start it right after the patches came out.

Thanks for the response.

This is very frustrating.

Thanks,
Chad

well, in that case i would suggest that you reinstall the 1.58 patch and the 1.11 bm to be sure to have all the right files again cause something mußt have changed in the meantime.

Are you running simultaneous?

yes, this is simultaneous. I thought it would be good to get used to playing that way. I was also hoping that it might cause turn generation to be a bit faster.

If I need to re-install the patch/BM. How do I do that? I tried running the patch, but it said this wasn't an older version. What do I need to delete (I assume) in order to patch again? That assumes, I should of course. Erg.

Thanks,
Chad

Hmmm, hadn't thought of that. I'll give it a try. Back in a few.

Ok...

So, that worked. Sorta. I was able to generate a new turn. But, upon saving that turn and attempting to load it I get the same error. But, the same fix worked.

I appears that I cannot load a saved game, although I can continue playing and generating new turns with now issues. Rather odd. Any ideas why? Am I missing something simple?

Thanks,
Chad

There's a fix in the latest beta for invalid checksums (ie unmatching files) that was plaguing some users. You're probably being inflicted by that. I'm not sure if it is random or something to do with configuration.
