Warp Storm Wars |
With the start of another 6 player PBW game I am looking forward to writing about the in game events...something that Myrath got me hooked on. For those of you who followed Nebula rising and are wondering what has happened to the game/story...well it is still active, but turn times have been very slow over the last 3-4 weeks. I hope this game doesn't slow down just when a huge quadrant wide war is about to break out.
Anyway, For Warp Storm Wars I've prepared some empire flags for the players who wish to write about the game. Just put the image at the top of your post... And please don't edit your posts once they have been posted...it can change the order of the posts(unless that has been fixed)
We do have two good writers...that I know of in this game... so I hope that I don't end up being the only one writing stories

So Ambassador what did you think of the Klingons, asked the Emperess over the giant view screen, something which gave her a godess like apperance.
They are savages, but they are not stupid. They have agreed to open their boarders to us and for our peoples to trade with them, something which will benerfit them more than us, as their industry is not so developed as ours. They however cannnot guarantee saftey of our ships in their space as their culture as warriors has many clans and while some maybe able to accept trade, others would much rather take the spoils of battle. They could if relationships develope in a friendly manner be a strong ally...though we should keep a very close eye on them.
Ambassador Glard, I have another mission for you, We have encountered another Empire called the Zentraedi Anarchy. They seem much more peaceful than the Kligons and I have handled our first diplomatic talks myself. They too have agreed to open their boarders in trade. I would like you to travel to their space and see if you can strengthen relations with this new Empire and its people.
Yes Emperess Zal-wa-na. I will leave right away.

Greetings to the T'sen gathered here and our Brothers and Sisters listening by hyperwave. I have been given the honor by Lord Khyron to announce the discovery of another alien intelligence.
The Dominion Imperium as they call themselves appear to be made up of a T'senoid race called the Dorn. Our initial surveys indicate they appear to be a peaceful people. Science appears to be very important to their society. They do appear to be territorial though. As a result we had the recent decree that the Neckron system is off limits to and Zentraedi ship from the enactment of the treaty with the Dominion. At this point there won't be any impact to shipping lanes as it is at the edge of explored space.
That is all that I can divulge about the most recently discovered empire. We expect that information will continue to flow between our two empires as our translators are having a much easier time with fully organic beings. Translations from the chaotic ones are still taking far longer than is practical for communication.

Vewan was quite small for a Dorn and quite nervous. He didn't like it when Zel-wa-na came to be informed...in fact her visits terrified him.
Come this way please my Emperess he mumbled as he showed her to the main control chamber.
She glared at him and then with her stern voice asked, what is new this month Vewan.
Well my Emperess, as you can see on the star chart our boarders with the Klingons have been formalised and they are expressing great interest in increasing our trade treaty to help their economy. Our trading vessels have done surprisingly well and suffered very few attacks by Klingon warlords.
As for the Zentraedi, we have heard very little from them...though they have warned us that the control the systems behind the Neckron system, but our Gliders have found no evidence of their presence there. We will try to lay claim to one of those systems and secure a way forward to expand.
We have also had contact with an empire called the Kemurian Republic who seem to be in a cold war with the Wang Empire. We are presently waiting to see if these rumours are true, but all indications lead us to believe that the Kemurians are being backed by the Klingons. They may ask for our backing as well.
Is that it! Very little of this is new you idiot, shouted the Emperess. Make sure you have something worth telling me next time or it will be the Zansal mines for you.
Vewan breathed a sigh of releif once she was gone.

Subject: Unexpected developments relating to the Sutran system
Background: Over a year ago an official communication was sent to the Dominion Imperium warning them out of our space on the outer rim. Their ships withdrew and development of the area continued. Some months later the first colony ship detected a wildcat colony in the Sutran system. Shortly after word arrived back at high command a warning was issued by the Dominion granting us pass through rights but forbidding ships otherwise in the disputed system.
General: At this point the prefect of the outer rim, Tuogii Dhyr, commandeered all combat ships in the area to sequester the system. At that time that amounted to barely one ship per uncolonized planet in the system (ignoring the useless solid bodies littering the place). Just before this minor force arrived a then unknown captain of an unarmed scout ship managed to bluff another Dominion colonizer into abandoning it's attempt to steal another colony out from underneath us. You may recall him, he is now the rear admiral for this sector.
Soon after all desired planets were defended and obvious points of entry and egress were blockaded. No other ships or forces have yet to be seen, though the original colony is expected to be heavily defended by this point.
We are bound at this time to uphold the treaty with the Dominion per Lord Khyron's orders. We have replied to the request to leave the system with a slow build-up of combat ships. The rally point is a promising colony world that is within scanner range of the wildcat Dominion colony to provide a constant reminder to both sides.
Now Captains, you have the background that is needed to carry out your orders. The bottom line is not to break the letter of the treaty signed with the Dominion, but to otherwise do whatever you can to be a thorn in their side in this system. If anyone of you or those you command break any letter of the treaty the only hope is that you can reach your sidearm before you are arrested. Dismissed.

My Empress, the Klingons await an answer.
Zel-wa-na went over the situation again, as things in the quadrant had become complicated fast.
First the Cold war between the Kemurian Republic and the Wang empire had escalated to a shooting war with Kemurian ships invading several of the Wang systems. Later the Klingons had also joined the war on Kemurian side. Though this war did not directly affect the Dominion Imperium it had caused some tension between ourselves and the waring sides as we maintain trade treaties with both.
Shortly after the start of the Kemurian Wang war, the Zentraedi Anarchy had sent agents into the Klingon systems with the hopes of stealing technology. Some of the Zentraedi agents had been captured and brutally tortured, but others had slipped by the Klingon patrols and had stolen some technology.
So now on the sub-space com, the Klingon ambassador was asking for help. What they wanted, was for our agents to slip over the boarders into Zentraedi space and put pressure on them to stop their intelligence activities. This was the problem, if we did as the Klingons asked this could lead us to war with the Zentraedi, and if we refused the Klingons, then they were likley to be badly offended and the good terms we enjoy with them could sour.
Tell them they will have our aid...but the price will be high!

Emperor Wang entered the chambers and his seven advisors rose to greet him.
"Sit .... please sit" growled the Emperor, "Admiral Torba - please summarise the situation and also brief us on the disturbing intelligence report recently received"
"Yes sire.... We are under attack by the Klingons and the Kemurians - an unprovoked attack I might add. These empires are cowardly and have committed atrocities against numerous Wang colonies. We are currently holding them off at new defence lines.
The Klingons and Kemurians were hitting us hard with intelligence, but it seems that not only have our intelligence defence and counter attacks started to work, but the Klingons seem to be under attack from another empire - we believe to be the Zentraedi.
We have a trade alliance with 3 empires - the Zentraedi, the Dominion and the Chaotix. We desperately need advanced technology from any of our allies - it is vital that we establish a regular technology sharing or trading agreement. While our technology research capabilities are probably the foremost in the Galaxy, and we seem to have no trouble with any of the enemy ships we have seen to date, we cannot rely on our own technology to keep pace with our cowardly enemies.
We have received recent reports of 17 ships in a Kemurian fleet (Mainly frigates, with some destroyers and a single 'Hammerhead' cruiser) in the Krikkit system near the warp point to our edge system. We do however have a number of surprises for the Kemurian fleet should they decide to pay us a visit in any of our systems.
Industrial capacity is building at a great pace, and there are still numerous planets within our systems to colonise.
We will be monitoring the situation closely" said Admiral Torba.
"Very good.... that will do for now. I have other business to attend to now" the Emperor said as he left the council chamber.

Just in now sir, we are to wait for the other fleet, which should arive next month and then we can jump...till then, we're to hold here.
Since the response to the Klingons call for aid the Zen had been silent. They had not responded via diplomatic means, but with force. The Dominion colony of Jubrup had come under attack from a small fleet of missile ships. The attack had been repelled by TIE fighters and bombers and a warning had been sent to the zen again to remove their ships from the system, as reinforcments were on the way.
Two fleets had been sent to secure the endangered system, but these reinforcments had to cross zen space to get there. The first fleet had battled it's way across the Zen controled system of Sutran and was about to enter Dominion space on the other sise. The second fleet had not done so well and after a ferice battle
had been destroyed.
Admiral Dawn's fleet was now charged with claiming the Sutran system in order to teach the Zen a lesson and to connect the Jubrup system with the Dominion Imperium. A job he was looking forward to...but that was a month away at least, and he would have to kill the time by having his fleet do some battle training. Though the Zen ships were not heavily armoured, they used long range missile wepaons and so bring them into weapon range had to be done as quickly as possible...something that took some practice!

Damn those diplomats! They are always sorting things out by talking...We could really sort things out if we just glassed a few Zen planets.

My Fellow Dorns.
It is with great sadness that I must comunicate this news to you all. The Alliance that we once held with the Klingons and Kemurians is nomore. Their warlike nature and thirst for conquest has left us no other alternative but to distance ourselves from them.
In fact for simply supplying the Wang Empire with some technology the Kemurians have directly threatened our empire with destruction. We must make a stand against these bloodthirsty races. For this reason our diplomats have been for the last few months in talks with the Zentraedi Anarchy, Chaotix confederacy and the Wang Empire to see if we can band together and not fall divided against this great threat.
Our words have not fallen on deaf ears and we are now joined in a new alliance...that will have to fight to survive.
