Setting location for Strategic colour on main map

Where do I change the setting for a race's colour that displays on the main galactic map? I have several 'green' races in play right now and I am back to square one,no idea where the borders are.

The pips that show on the map are in the empire's flag_set bitmap.

I've been thinking of editing them to be two colors. I have the same problem with red empires in my current game.

What I am puzzled about now, is the combat map colors for the ships in the minimap... currently I can't see my ships in it because the dots are too dark. I am wondering if that color is also taken from the empire's flag_set bitmap (perhaps from the solid blank color between the images).

[edit] I just edited my empire's flag_set... with two color pips and putting a bright color in the 'unused' area... worked great on both counts. My empire is completely defined and in combat my ships stand out on the scanner.

Not sure of the best way to photoshop new colored pips... I just desaturated the a copy of the current pips, and then put the desired color(s) in a layer on top set to 'overlay'.

Yes, that's right, that's where you find it.

I actually changed my Romulan flag colours so that in the combat display, their ships were invisible on the scanners and you had to find them manually. Makes them much funner (I hate the fact that you can't use the cloaking device tactically in combat)

Here is my current flag... you'll probably have to zoom to see the detail. The yellow region seems to be the combat minimap color for the ships... and the four map icons, in the bottom center, are now red and yellow.

I plan on redoing it in blue & green since the pyramid is too washed out in front of the red & yellow. Still not happy with the metallic shield borders, I should recreate them from scratch, but haven't gotten the shading/highlights right.

You got it - the big square blob of yellow in the middle is what will show up on the Tac scanner display. I also tried using the 'invisible' fucia colour for my Rommies, but alas, they show up neon pink, not invisible! (too bad, that would have rocked)

Black works well as a nearly invisible (stealth) race as well. I'm using a very dark blue for the Roms, which makes them effectively nearly invisible on the scanner.
