Copy Protection? |
I know that the Demo for Galactic Civilizations had Starforce (bleh). My computer has had problems with starforce in the past, and am wondering, and I going to download the demo, or wait for it to come out on Steam? I've already bought it, I'm just wondering if I'm trying the demo or waiting 5 days.
The full version
The full version uses CD-key protection. You don't need to have the CD in the drive to play, either, which is nice.

Oooh, shiny. I guess I have
Oooh, shiny. I guess I have no reason to delay buying it any longer.

ok I want to set up a LAN
ok I want to set up a LAN with my three machines and invite a friend or two. Do I have to buy THREE copies or can I just use one for the Host and install on the slave machines?
Try it. and find out?
Assuming you have full, I'd try it first. I'll try it tommorow if you can't; keep an eye out.
Whether you can LEGALLY
Whether you can LEGALLY install it on more than one computer at a time per copy bought should be in the EULA. Most likely not. You should buy three copies if it states in EULA that it can only be installed on one computer, I've only ever seen one game state otherwise but then who reads EULAs anyway
I didn't for this game...
Copyright
Generally accepted Copyright law would say that you can legally install on more than one machine as long you take reasonable measures to ensure that it is only used on one machine at a time. i.e. you could install on your Desktop and Laptop assuming you don't play on both at the same time.
For your case you need three copies because you intend to use the software on three different computers at the same time.
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer but I play one at work.
