stock 1.58 - no AI? |
Just came back to space empires now that I feel most of the bugs have been worked out, but I'm noticing the AI is a little... well, it really doesn't do anything. Even on hard with a high bonus for the computer it just sits around in it's space, building satelites and colonizing super slow. Even when a couple war ships find their way into my space they don't initiate any attacks -- infact, I really don't know what they're doing.
As far as I'm concerned there's not really much to play. I think this should be addressed by more than the modding community. I kind've resent buying the game, as I felt when I got it it was too buggy to even try to play, and now I still don't feel there's any game there to play, just a game engine with AIless bots. 
That said, are there any decent mods that just affect the computer's Ai and aren't ridden with bugs?

Playing Touhou games (Go here if interested . No, nobody else is that good/insane as that replay). No rush for SE V bug fixing.

If you want unnamed AI for 1.58 plese follwing the follwoing

1- install SEV
2- Install patch 1.58 & make sure new game creation works
3- download Unnammed AI from the wiki link ( http://wiki.spaceempires.net/index.php/Unnamed%27s_Stock_AI_mod ) earlier in the thread
4- install unnammed AI 1.05 mod in the "SE5\gametypes" folder
5- download the corrected unnammed AI 1.58 from http://www.mediafire.com/?ahvyuddz9nm and save it in the "\SE5\GameTypes\Unnamed's Upgraded AI" folder
6- extract the file with over-writing everything
7- Start SE5 and everything should work. Try it first in new game creation. In a current game the easiest way to know if the AI still works is by giving it a treaty offer and if they respond then everything works.

without a mod don't bother - unless you play multiplayer - I can only suggest the Balance Mod for single player because I haven't tried others in depth, it has a decent AI but take the latest version and keep visiting for updates-info-bugs etc
well I hope someday MM will dedicate some time to actually demoronize the stock AI.
