Geeze man, you have your browser set to autorefresh on the shipyards page watching for those, or what? I just barely put them up, and hadn't even added the news item yet! Eye-wink

Just good timing. I generally check a few times a day after I submit a set... I refreshed the page after I got back from dinner and there they were, so up went the post. Sticking out tongue

Are the scripts for these compatible with 1.58?

GJ man. Nice addition to the SE5 list. I admire your thoroughness with the readme file credits and making sure you got them correct. Eye-wink

Thanks.

Yes, the scripts were compiled with version 1.58, and they should work just fine.

Thank you again Azmedaj.

Your ship sets are just beautiful. If you continue to post new races at this speed, we will get soon the huge number we had in SE IV.

You're quite welcome, but I'm sad to say I won't be keeping up this pace for much longer. The only major Star Trek race left to do is the Tholians. After that, I plan on spending some quality time actually playing the game. Eye-wink

I am planning on putting together more sets in the future, but when I do they'll be done on a much more normal schedule.

It would be cool if you can make the neo-standard version of the shipsets for all the star trek races.

There are a lot more ships in the TV series than what stock game will allow!

Anyway, great job!

I'd like to see something similar to what they did with the Star Trek mod for SE4 - having some of the less influential factions eg tholians, ferengi, Ba'ku, Bajorans etc being available as neutral empires in the game.

Is it possible to simply interchange them? I.e. just move say the Ferengi empire folder to the neutral empires directory? would this work?

These are two very cool races. Keep up the good work.
One thing I found about loading up on imported races (like the Star Trek ones) is that most of them tend to be O2 breathers, which can change the nature of play if it gets really skewed in that direction.

The Rock & Oxygen combination certainly could be an issue...but there really isn't any way around it, since 99% of Star Trek races breath oxygen and live on temperate planets. However, the Breen are Hydrogen Ice, and 8472 is Gas Giant Methane, so they're not all the same.

In retrospect I also would have made the Dominion no atmosphere, since the founders don't actually breath (and they've been seen in vacuum with no ill effects)...but they were the first set I made, and I didn't realize that it might be a problem until later.

It's easy enough to change in the general.txt file. I may be guilty of distorting the Star Trek universe a little, but I have changed a few of them to balance things out a little better.

All empire folders go in one directory. The difference is in the AI_Main.txt files. A major, human selectable race would have:

Is Empire Race := TRUE
Is Available For Player Selection := TRUE
Is Neutral Race := FALSE

A neutral race, which cannot expand beyond its own home system, has:

Is Empire Race := FALSE
Is Available For Player Selection := FALSE
Is Neutral Race := TRUE

If you want to make a race that can expand beyond its home system like a normal AI empire, but cannot be selected by a human player, I think you'd want:

Is Empire Race := TRUE
Is Available For Player Selection := FALSE
Is Neutral Race := FALSE

There's no law stating that you can't release a 1.1 version. Eye-wink

Although I would have preferred TOS era Star Fleet Battles style Gorn, the ships are awesome and I commend you on a job well done! Now to go forth and crush the galaxy under a green scaled fist!

I loved playing SEIV as the 8472. The Shipset looks very cool!
Thanks for the hard work.

I'd just like to say that these two sets are wonderful. I really like them. In fact I'm using 8472 in my current game. I'll probably use the Gorn in the next.

I'm not a big fan of current ST. So for me, these aren't being used as ST races. They are simply wonderful shipsets that I am enjoying in their own right.

For the record, I'd love to see the older SFB style sets. Eye-wink

Thanks for the sets,
Chad
