'Manual' button causes flashing screen

Pressing the button marked "Manual" fires up adobe acrobat IN THE BACKGROUND, but it wants the foreground, but the app hasn't minimized cause we're in a dialog box...

It stutters back and forth, flashing a little bit of both.
