Is there a way, when in a specific sector view map screen, to view a list of all ships currently in that sector?
At this time, I am going to the ship list screen, or clicking on each planet to see where my ships are. Both of these methods seem inefficient and cumbersome.

The little 8 slot thing with scroll bar at the bottom of the screen not enough?
You can right click on a sector, and it will show the name of each ship under reports, with the word report affter each ship name, such as "Scout II 0005 Report" (minus quotes)
One other thing I usually don't do is bring up the Fleet Transfer screen (right side middle row off order buttons, or by F hotkey), since it has a list of all ships in a sector, without needing or having to make a fleet to see the list.
The Transfer Cargo option (T hotkey) will bring up a list of sorts also, the selected thing on the left, all other ships, bases, planet, unit groups, etc, in the right side, although then you have to also sift through everything from supplies/ordnance to units and other cargo by assorted vehicles, and not just the vehicles themselves.
