Jumpy graphics?

Submitted by Denogginizer on Fri, 2007-09-21 14:30. Space Empires V General

I have recently bought space empires V and I have a question. Sometimes when I am playing the graphics will become jumpy, like while I am scrolling around it will scroll at normal speed then the screen will "jump" ahead a little bit. If I am looking at a battle or just a warp portal spinning around it will be very twitchy. Does anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix this?

How powerfull is your machine and how much memory do you use? this game hungry for both? so just have patience and try some of the suggestions below?

The game settings can be altered in the initial setup screen? try to lower your graphics a level?
OR ingame use the options menu (note board) top left main option? and look at scroll speeds option?
OR go to empire button (crown) at top to right and turn off systems background desplay?

In battle you can turn off the square grid as you dont need it? centre window top left button?
All the above can help take some load of your machine, this inturn will help it run smoother?

Hope this helps spuda

Also, is it a Vista system?

It is not a vista system. I have tried lowering graphics but this does nothing. It doesnt look like a problem of slowing down, it actually seems to get periodically faster then to normal speed every half a second. When I am on a system map my fps stays at a still number while this is happening.

Have you tried setting video memory to SAFE?

Yes, safe mode didn't seem to do anything.

Troubleshooting time.

Have you had similar/related problems with other games?

Do you have any aps/programs running at the same time or in the background that could be hogging up system resources?

Do you have your video drivers up to date?

Have you run the Direct X Diagnostic Tool and tested DirectDraw/Direct3D to see if everything is operating as is should without problems?
The System page of the diagnostic tool will also show your system stats (Processor, RAM, DirectX version, etc.)
