How do I get more races? |
In the diplomacy section of the game, when I see my Empire status(or report I can't remember exactly) I see only one race as part of my empire even though I have atleast 3, some of which no longer have an empire of their own.I am I wrong or should they appear as member races of my empire? Thanks in advance!

I believe that is mainly an alliance thing. I've only tried making an alliance once (didn't go very well 
) but when I did that I got my race portrait and another (Xiati iirc) added to the new government. Seems simply snatching population won't have this effect.

Then what is assimilation for? How do you assimilate new population into your own? What does increasing your population assimilation rating (via the Education Civics technology) do for you?

In theory, it helps bring other "populations" under your flag. This should mean that they generally get less angry versus captured populations.

I don't know exactly, I would presume that it would only show your race as the empires race. The other races would only show up on the planets they are on. That's what I would think, could be wrong.
