We usually receive the patch on Friday and so I would expect the public patch to be released after the weekend.

So then I'm wondering -
If the game is available to the general public sometime between now and the 16th, and the first patch of the retail game is available on the 16th, will a patch to the demo also be made available on that day?

From what I've heard there will be a new demo rather than a patch. Which makes sense; it'd be easier and quicker to do than making a demo-specific patch, I think.

Ashbery: SE patches don't require you to restart your game, normally. Actually I can't think of a single patch that has done so. This one will delete your old combat replays, but I haven't seen any indicate its incompatable with old savegames.

Since the game is released by EB and Gamestop and is now arriving being installed on users PCs can you release the Proportions Mod or do you have to wait until the official SF release by terms of the NDA?

Proportions is whole nother ball of wax.

And he's said before he can't release it because he didn't save a 1.00-compatable version of the mod, so it won't work right until the first patch is released anyway.

While i'm hoping the patch will not require save games to be restarted, or lost. As usually i would understand this would not be required, however with what seems to be significant issues with the game so far (i'm talking about the retail version purchased in NZ), i could imagine the possibility of a major overhaul in some areas being required.

Mind you, as it stands i guess starting again wouldn't be too much of a major problem for myself, as i can only get to a certain point before i get a game stopping bug (No Research points available, which has happened on 3 games i've started), so not too many hours spent on building a huge empire.

Only thing i ask is that the patch is properly tested, and doesn't introduce more bugs than it fixes.

Well I just hope they don't wait untill the 16th there are groing numbers of us with the game that really want/need this patch.
