The Starfury story? |

I'm interested in the lore for the SpaceEmpires galaxy. Can someone tell me the story from Starfury.I'm never going to play the game.

The backstory doesn't carry from game to game and it isn't very involved.
In Starfury: The Xixti were after ancient artifacts, and it was eventually discovered that they used those to open a portal to another galaxy. Unfortunately, the Sithrak came through and butchered the Xiati. Player kills Sithrak mothership and destroys gate, end story.

My take on the SF story
Pretty close. The Xiati and the Fazrah were pawns of the Amon'krie (why does that sound like something from Stargate: SG-1?), who used the artifacts taken by the Xiati and Fazrah (and the pirates) to build the portal.
The first campaign involves investigating the pirate attacks that turn out to be connected to the Amon'krie portal project (though this connection isn't revealed until late in the second campaign/early in the third campaign). The campaign ends with the destruction of a pirate base belonging to one of the clans that have been working for the Amon'krie.
Campaign two involves defending the Abbidon from Xiati incursions and investigating the Fazrah connection to the Amon'krie's doomsday project. (Why, oh why weren't the Fazrah included in SEV?) About halfway through, there's a mission where Xiati ships warp into the system you're defending, followed by a mission to counter-attack a Xiati base in a neighboring system to keep them off balance. Once those two missions are complete, the Xiati threat is ended and the story's focus turns to the Fazrah. Ultimately, you wind up destroying a Fazrah starbase and learning of their connection to the Amon'krie.
The final campaign follows from there. Your initial missions in this campaign involve infiltrating ever deeper into Amon'krie territory, eventually discovering the portal, where the Sithrak have already started their deadly work of purging the galaxy of anyone who isn't them. Once the Sithrak threat is revealed the campaign starts to resemble seasons three and four of Babylon 5 - defending border worlds from Sithrak incursions, learning to exploit their weakness by cutting off their means of reinforcement (i.e., the portal), and mopping up the remnants.
Incidentally, the Sithrak really earn their fearsome reputation, as their weapons are uber-powerful (particularly the Null-Space Projector, which cuts through both shields and armor as if they weren't even there). But then, once you destroy a few of their ships and collect the sweet, sweet salvage, the tables turn and you can easily defeat them.

Re: The Starfury story?
Why are the Terrans always the economic race. For 5000 years of written history there has only been 50 years of peace. We should be the ass kickers of the galaxy. Lets lose the Star Trek image and be what we are.
Re: The Starfury story?
Star Trek image? We're not the Ferengi ...
Star Trek image of Humanity is a pipe dream : a functioning communistic society, without the ultra-privelaged (and holder of all the reins of power) elite few.

Re: The Starfury story?> Star Trek visions
Gene Roddenbury was an ex-police officer, advancing an IDEAL.
It IS a beautiful ideal...
but observe how the Star Trek franchise changed after his death & his wife's decisionto relax the writer's guidelines...
This happened for the final season of TNG.
Ring any bells?

Race description and Intro
I canot tell if it is any diferent from SE regular series since I have only played a demo of SE4 long time ago, and cant remember. I hope that this can help.

Chapter 11: Alien Races
Terran
Terrans are an aggressive species which seek to
expand their economy to every corner of the
galaxy.
Biological Description:
The Terrans are one of the few species that is
made up of several sub-categories that have
followed different evolutionary and cultural paths.
As a result, Terrans, or Humans as they call
themselves have developed into one of the most
diverse races in the galaxy. Physically, they aren't
anything special. Bipedal with two arms and a
head, they are a remarkably ordinary-looking race.
A positive byproduct of this fact is that their
appearance is inoffensive to most, which allows
them to make treaties and trade with other races
with relative ease.
Society Description:
The Terrans are governed by a very liberal
democracy. The large numbers of freedoms
granted by this system result in feelings of
happiness and well being amongst the general
population. However, this openness also leave the
Terrans vulnerable to infiltration.
General History Description:
With so many different cultures all evolving at the
same time, even a brief summary of Terran history
would take volumes. The Terrans do have a
pronounced history of killing each other that
stretches back to the beginning of their race. As a
result, they have become extremely proficient at
the art.
Abbidon
A neutral race which holds art above all else and is
latently psychic. The Abbidon are a peaceful and
serene people.
Biological Description:
The Abbidon are one of the rare species to evolve
on a gas giant planet. Their bodies are naturally
quite flat and undulate to propel them through the
swirling gasses of their planet. Their eyesight is
quite poor, but they have a form of natural radar
that they emit to navigate. Their bodies are
approximately 3 meters long and they live about 90
years. Their skin is normally dark orange in color,
but can change depending on their mood.
Society Description:
The Abbidon society is not really much of one. It
contains no real structure but is merely a collection
of individuals who congregate as it pleases them.
The fact that they can build and maintain starships
has left many a scholar puzzled. They don't take
much interest in material matters, but prefer their
aerial artwork which consists of convoluted vapor
patterns created by their bodies as they move
through the atmosphere.
General History Description:
The Abbidon did eventually move out into space,
but only after they were forced to. They were
content to remain on their home planet with little
interest in space travel. However, a devastating
asteroid strike changed their minds. With half of
their homeworld's population decimated, they
devoted themselves to obtaining space travel. After
many decades of arduous work, the Abbidon
moved out into the galaxy.
Xiati
The Xiati are aggressive and known as devious
schemers.
Biological Description:
The Xiati are a humanoid race which evolved on an
Oxygen world. They stand approximately 2 meters
tall and are dull brown in appearance. Their
average lifespan is approximately 70 years, and
they are striking for their dark black eyes. Of
additional note is the high level of cybernetic
enhancement which the Xiati perform on
themselves. It is estimated that 30% of a Xiati's
mass is made up of non-organic technology.
Society Description:
The Xiati are an archetypal empire dedicated to
spreading its control across the galaxy. The
government keeps all of its citizens in line and
allows no dissention. The society is ruled
absolutely by the current emperor, with new
emperors coming to power only after the current
one has aged to ineptitude. There are the
occasional rebellions, but they are put down quickly
and violently. Most of the galaxy has heard of the
infamous Omicron Theta rebellion during which 30
million Xiati were bombed out of existence by
imperial ships. Rumor has it that only 100,000
miners at the colony were actually refusing to work.
General History Description:
Originally the Xiati were not considered much of a
threat to other species. They were intelligent and
aggressive, but their technology was a bit dated. That
all changed when the Xiati allied themselves with the
Fazrah. The new technology they gained through trade
greatly increased the Xiati military arsenal. With an
arsenal of devastating starship weapons at their
disposal, the Xiati became a force to be reckoned with.
Fazrah
The Fazrah are a young species who are very
prone to violent conflicts. They have survived this
long solely on their tremendous luck.
Biological Description:
The Fazrah are an aquatic species which must
remain immersed in a salt-based liquid to survive.
They are approximately 3 meters tall (if upright),
and move through the use of 4 flippers at the
bottom of their torso. Their upper body is very
humanoid with a head and two arm-like
appendages. The average lifespan of a Fazrah is
50 years.
Society Description:
The Fazrah are originally from a violent aquatic
world. Most of the ocean they originated from was
filled with predatory species much larger then the
Fazrah themselves. Being under constant threat of
attack has led the Fazrah to become a very diverse
and violent culture. The Fazrah society is very
disjoint with many different factions operating
independently. The factions are often quite violent
in their means.
General History Description:
The Fazrah do not have a collective history as
such. Normally moving in small groups, they have
spread throughout the galaxy and are often hunted.
Their violent and reclusive nature does not lend
itself well to relations with other species. Their
history is mainly dominated by their common usage
as mercenaries for hire.
Amonkrie
The Amon'krie are an intellectual race with
advanced technology. Though physically weak,
they make up for it with powerful organic warships.
Biological Description:
The Amon'krie are small worm-like beings just
under 2 meters long. They propel their bodies by
undulating their underside. They have several
small tubules near their head which they use to
grasp tools. They prefer to make their homes under
the soil of a planet and have very poor eyesight.
Their average lifespan is about 50 years.
Society Description:
The Amon'krie have a society made up of several
groups of governing personnel. Each group has
absolute authority over a different sector of their
government. They work together in a delicate
network of checks and balances. Their society is
strongly xenophobic and does not interact well with
other races.
General History Description:
The Amon'krie are thought to have evolved on a
planet far on the rim of the galaxy. They developed
spaceflight relatively quickly, but found no other
sentient life near them. Over the centuries, they
developed the belief that theirs was the only race in
existence. As they ventured further into the galaxy,
they did finally encounter other species but their
isolation had already left them strongly xenophobic.
(This next part was taken from the intro of the first campaign)
In the year 2215, the invention of the ion drive opened the door for mankind to fully explore and exploit the solar system, but other systems were still beyond man's grasp. During surveys of the outer solar system in 2223, scientists discovered a minor gravitational eddy without any discernable source. Further investigation discovered a "soft" region of space which was the endpoint of a wormhole connecting the Terran System with a solar system far on the other side of the galaxy.
By 2246, ion engines had been modified to allow a ship to puncture this "warp point" and move from the Terran system to the Vendrin Junction system. Scientists soon found that the Terran warp point was not a unique phenomenon. The gravitational well of a star that formed a solar system would also form these warp points on the system's edge. Warp Points were a common occurence in every star system, and were found to connect systems all across the galaxy. Mankind had stumbled upon an intergalactic highway of sorts. Thus began the great colonization effort of mankind. The nation states of the Earth boldly ventured outward to newly discovered star systems and colonized them.
Over the course of the next hundred years, Earth discovered it was not alone in the universe. Other races were encountered, some friendly, some not.
Mankind first encountered the species called the Xiati near its space in the Brama system in the year 2287. The Xiati are a humanoid race which utilize cybernetic enhancements over a good portion of their bodies. At the time, the Xiati were technologically slow, but they were also vicious and war like. War ensued as the Xiati attacked every human colony they encountered.
The separate nation states of the earth that had up to this time been separate and distinct, quickly realized that a unified front would be required. The separate nations banded together to form the Terran Confederation in the year 2291. The first order of business was the creation of a Terran Navy to defend against the aggressive Xiati. The first Terran-Xiati war continued over the next 10 years, with the Terran Confederation finally driving the Xiati back to their space. A shaky cease-fire was declared, but relations never improved from this first war.
With further exploration, the Terran Confederation encountered the Fazrah race near the Percina system in 2314. The Fazrah were found to be not much friendlier than the Xiati, and just as bad, were allied to the Xiati. The Fazrah are an aquatic species that are quite nomadic in nature. The Fazrah are not so much a unified people as a collection of separate clans that war with each other. And at the time, they were only too happy to war with Terrans as well. Though a full scale war never broke out, skirmishes are a common occurrence even to this day on the Fazrah border.
The Terran Confederation's first real ally came in 2347 with a chance rescue of an Abbidon ship. A Terran cruiser came upon 2 Xiati destroyers attacking an unknown ship. The Terran cruiser fought valiantly and rescued this unknown ship, which turned out to belong to the Abbidon. The Abbidon turned out to be a peaceful race of artisans that were only too happy to ally themselves with the Terran Confederation. The Abbidon are one of those rare races to evolve on a Gas Giant and don't relate well to most humanoid races. The Terran-Abbidon alliance has endured to this day and is a cornerstone of stability in this quadrant.
The year is now 2437. Borders for most races are firmly set and protected by powerful starbases. A large area of neutral systems exist between the borders to allow for commerce between the great empires. One other race has recently been encountered known only as the Amonkrie. Not much is known about this reclusive race, only that they are the only race to use organic technology and employ living starships. The Terran Confederation has sent envoys to their space to open relations, but the Amonkrie appear uninterested.
