climate center

Submitted by subba on Wed, 2007-08-29 11:56. Space Empires V General

i am sure that the climate center does not improve the conditions. for 10 turns the planets stays unpleasant and the values like temperature and radiation do not change. and what is the purpose of this values? 2 optimal planets have very different values. playing 1.44 with balancemod and this additional ai patach .

The temperature and radiation do not change. It's the conditions description (optimal, pleasant, etc.) that changes.

Doesn't it take more than 10 turns to see any change anyways?

Groovy Baby Yeah!

Yes, all the planet modifiers (climate, atmosphere, quality, shines) provide benefits per YEAR ... also known as 10 turns. When you move from 2411.1 to 2411.2 that is 1/10 of a year, might be a month ... give or take. From 2411.0 to 2412.0 is a year ... 10 turns.

The benefits do not accrue until the 10th turn (1st year).

1% per year is NOT .1% every turn, for 10 turns.

Also, keep in mind that the textual description of conditions represents a range of numerical values. It might take several iterations of improvement before the text description changes.

I don't think the planet description text ever changes after galaxy creation. It alomost always contradictory and irrelevant.

It would be nice o have a more quantitive display of the planet value rather then "unpleasent" or "optimal" Smiling

Or at least some insight how this value is calculated. And I guess it is the same for each race, too.

I know it works in vanilla 1.44. I built some on deadly planets and just let them go. After about 10 years of playing I get a notice that the conditions on the planet are at maximum. I then scrap the climate control and put in something else.

This was written for SE4, but I don't think SE5 conditions are any different:

Question: Does the size of the planet matter? Small planets, quicker climate changes, large planets take longer time?

Or is what some people like to say? Size does not matter.

All planetary attributes are independent. Size, value, conditions, etc.
