One thing I really miss from X3 Reunion |
I miss the ability to command a ship to go to a station (planet in SEV) in a different sector that might be several sectors away. It's a pain to have to remember to pick up each ship aftre it goes through a jump point - perhaps I'm missing something really obvious. Or perhaps I've just got too many ships - about 30 Light Carriers.
Most of the time I'm concentrating them in a couple of sectors but I still lose track of strays even switching between ships / fleet and ships / orders.
Basically I want to be able to move different ships from diff. secters and concentrate them in a sector several sectors away for e.g. an atack against a new system.
Any tips appreciated....

Hmm, I might be wrong about this, but can I assume that you did not know that it is possible to set a ship to move through several sectors at once? Simply select your ships or fleets, choose the Move order, navigate to desired system and select the hex you want them to go to. This will automatically generate a route through all the systems that the ships will follow.
No need for using the 'Warp' command unless you're going to a system you haven't visisted before.
Also note, this can be used while having several ships/units/fleets selected at once.

Have you tried using waypoints?
1. Select a sector which you want to designate as a gathering point. Press CTRL+#, where # is a digit between 1 and 9. You have now defined a waypoint in that sector.
2. Select any ships or fleets which you want to move to the waypoint. Press the # corresponding to the waypoint. The ships will be given orders to move to the waypoint.
3. You may also instruct construction queues to automatically order new ships to move to the waypoint.

A few other tips to avoid strays:
- You can use the spacebar to cycle through units which do not yet have orders. This functionality can be further customized in the Empire Options screen.
- You can define a custom layout for your ship list which includes movement. Then you can just click the column header for movement in order to sort the list, and it becomes very easy to see which ships have unused movement remaining.
