Invalid Data Files

Submitted by Orillion on Wed, 2007-08-22 16:59. Space Empires V Multiplayer

I'm having problems creating a game on PBW, after creating the game and then trying to load up the first turn, I get the error:

"Invalid Data Files: The data files currently being used do not match the data files that were used when this game was started. Please check with your host to get the correct data files."

I can click Close and then play the game normally. The game is v1.44 with BM1.09.

At first I thought it could have been an empire file created on the wrong version, however I created a game manually from scratch including new empires and with the multiplayer settings as Simultaneous on different machines, created the game then loaded up the turn and got the same error.

I eventually started trying different versions of the game and BM, and discovered I got this error when creating the game (as above) just on 1.44 (tried with BM1.09, BM1.08 and stock and all did the same) but that 1.35 worked fine (with BM1.09, BM1.08 and stock).

So can only conclude this is a problem with v1.44. Has anybody else encountered this and what can you suggest?

I’m playing a PBEM game. All our players have received that notice when starting their turn. It appears not to cause any problems. Some turns it does not show up at all. I think it is mentioned in the patch change log as one of the fixes.

It's a new 1.44 feature/bug. Don't worry about it.

I was getting the error just creating test games locally on my PC in the end. The problem occurred when creating a multiplayer game (Simultaneous/different machines) in v1.44 with stock or any version of BM, so I really can't see any reason for the data files not to match!!

Since it doesn't cause any problems and we'll play on.
