Planets changing their skins...

Hi!

I recently started work on a mod that reduces the number of systems in a game down to one system, which is about twice the size of a normal system. There are only three possible system types -- standard, binary, and trinary -- each of which use all 100 object slots available in any given entry in SystemTypes.txt. So, there are dozens of planets, and several strings of storms and asteroids that run throughout the system.

My problem is this: sometimes (I'd say about half the time, maybe less), when I start a new game with the mod, some of the planets are using the wrong texture when rendered in three dimensions (in the system view window). It always uses the right size, but the atmosphere, composition, and coloring are off. For example, there might be what looks like a small, red, hydrogen gas giant -- but when I select the hex, I find that it's a small, blue, oxygen rock world. I can tell its just the skin changing, because the colonizability (?) circles aren't affected -- that is, if I were an oxyrock race, the above red gas giant would still have a green circle above it. I can tell when the error occurs, because after the game is done generating the system, and I get shown the system, all of the planets, storms, asteroids, etc., jump a millisecond or two later -- it happens too quickly for me to notice any specifics about how they're moving, but the space objects clearly change within the first few moments of the game starting. A few times, the game has even gone so far as to replace a planet's texture with that of a star, and vice versa.

At any rate, I'm editting off of v1.44, with Kwok's Balance Mod v1.08, which includes Fyron's Quadrant Mod 8.

Thanks for any help!

I sometimes get this for no apparent reason with the BM.
Saving and reloading usually fixes it.

Since when do you have to stop at 100?

Well, when I don't, the game crashes... if I didn't have to, that would be really awesome. I'm going to go and experiment.

Well, I tried again, and, yeah -- whenever I create a system with greater than 100 objects, the game refuses to generate the system. The bar for system generation fills up, but then the game freezes. Which is a shame.
