Warp Point Defense |
My warp point defense force sometimes is out of position due to chasing a previous foe. Is there a way to reset the defense force to guard the warp point?
Re: Warp Point Defense
Yep Dave's right, you can move anything in sector view, that belongs to you of course.
Re: Warp Point Defense
Makes you wish there was a return to orbital position command that would keep the ships/ sats/ bases in the same spot that they were in before combat started.

Re: Warp Point Defense
You could remove them from the sector from time to time and then put them back. Easier than move them manually...

Re: Warp Point Defense
Ah so move off one sector after each combat then back. Very Nice!
Groovy Baby Yeah!
Re: Warp Point Defense
I prefer my carriers to be a bit away from the warp point so that attacking ships don't immediately have my carrier targeted as it emerges from the warp point, before it has time to launch fighters.
Moving them away and back puts then right on top of the warp point, and also uses up supplies. Space shipyards cannot move while building.
Re: Warp Point Defense
Hi guys, it is called "sector view" button in the bottom center display window 1 of 3 buttons on the upper right of that window?
click on the hex you want to view, then click the sector view button,
Once in the window you can see some dots on the map window, click over them and you will see you unit/ship ect.in the main window. Left click on the ship you want to move and then left click on the map where you want to place it? left clicking on the main window will actually place the ship. if you use the mouse roller to zoom in on the ship while highlited, you can see the direction its pointing, right click the mouse and it will rotate clockwise one position at a time untill you have the prefered position you want. So you can also setup the facing of the ships/units as well.
A great system for placing defences.
Hope this helps Spuda

Re: Warp Point Defense
Thanks, didn't knew about the rotate function.
Re: Warp Point Defense
That takes too long when you've just somehow deployed 100+ satellites in a ring - away from the WP, out in the middle of nowhere in the sector.

Re: Warp Point Defense
Well, that's obviously a bug.
Re: Warp Point Defense
I'm not 100% sure but I think this mainly happens to me when I pick up all my satelites and fighters in a freighter at the warp point (to combine into single groups) and then drop them off in one go.
If I do the satelites on their own, I think I get the satelites close to the warp point (although often in a heap, all in the one spot).
Re: Warp Point Defense
I tried to move ships in the sector view last eve and it did not work, they had used up all thier move points for the turn though, so I'm not sure if that was the problem.
Re: Warp Point Defense
I have been trying to figure out how to do a "warp point" fleet formation, where the ships form in tight circles around a warp point. That would be for Defense only. Not much good for attacking with. The other formations just sacrifice the lead ships as a large force pours out of the warp point.
Re: Warp Point Defense
One trick to use is the 'retreat to' options.
If you have them set to retreat to Planet/Base it should avoid them running miles away
Re: Warp Point Defense
Sorry, posted this in error
Re: Warp Point Defense
This is another point of the game that needs a fix, but isn't getting any attention. Yes, you can use sector view to reposition all of your ships manually, but that ends up being really time consuming; to reposition every ship at every warp point after every turn that there has been an enemy encounter. The simple fix is to have something like a "Stay on Station" command.

Re: Warp Point Defense
That's one of the reasons why it's interesting to use satellites in warp point defense - they don't move!

Re: Warp Point Defense
I think so. I'm kind of new here myslef, but in the main map area, I recall a button labled "sector view" or something like that, in the center box on the bottom. I know you can hit that and then see the sector as though you were in combat. I have used it to place satalies around a warp point, so it may work to move ships as well. Hope that helps. Oops if not.
