EBGames and Gamestop Shipping SE5 today (10/6) |
My order from EBGames has shipped today (10/6), so I will be getting it on Monday with overnight shipping...
What in heck is going on with this release? I know this is an independant, niche title, but with the varying release dates depending on where you go to the developer not even knowing (or posting on their site) the correct date and then to have copies shipped without even a hint of a gold announcement...
Nevermind the suprise early release in Australia of all places...
I don't understand why there's been such terrible miscommunication and lack of updates by both Malfador AND Strategy First concerning this release...
Again there is no excuse that it's a small, independant developer since the recent release of Dominions 3 by illwinter went without a hitch and plenty of communication. (which I recommend to SE fans as it's pretty much a fantasy equivalent of SE)

I do believe that a few stores release early regardless of the "release date". Hardly the developer's fault that is it.

It is however the publisher's fault for not giving better indication of when, where and how the game would be released. Hell, the only reason we know it went gold is the SE newsletter and a single confirmation post in this forum, and the only indication of the release date is a single blip on the SFI page- nothing here.

Strategy First website doesn't even offer preorder yet but game is out in Australia and shipping in US. I was also one of those overnight guys who's a bit miffed at paying for overnight and getting it 3 days later. think I'll take it up with EB Games.
Overnight is not necessarily overnight
I've been thru the shipping nightmare before. Fyi. Overnight only applies to business days unless you specifically request a Saturday delivery and costs more. UPS and FeDex are typically 90% shutdown on weekends. And Saturday deliveries are iffy at best but then you could get your money refunded.
I bought it Thursday at EB
I bought it Thursday at EB Games, locally.. fingured since the guy said it was shipping and would be in the store FRIDAY.. why pay shipping, and the store in on the way home.. Friday.. no game.. but it WILL BE THERE SATURDAY FOR SURE!

UPDATE:
I purchased on Tursday.. with the understanding that it woudl be there Friday, or Saturday at the latest.. well Saturday came and went.. there was a "Shipping Snafu.. blah blah blah".. and with a Holiday Monday, Tuesday will now be the earliest I can pick up.
Screw You EB GAMES. I could have purchased online and express shipping and had it Friday.

Don't assume everyone that ordered it overnight will have it monday, thanks. Stupid mail room here on base is run by services personal, who get holidays off. Tuesday for me, with my overnight delivery, YAY!
Blame S1
I blame S1 for everything. Hell, Sunday when I stopped in at a Gamestop close to my workplace anxious for some news, they didn't know a damn thing about it.

I'm having the same problem every store in my area says it's out but they haven't gotten it in yet. 
Hopefully it comes in Tuesday.
If you want to see how few
If you want to see how few copies are actually out there in the stores (i.e. GameStop, and EB), just go to http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=646776
Then in the lower right do a Check Store Availability via Zip Code and Distance from you.
I did that and found Zero stores within a 50 mile radius had the game!
The game is being ship and should be at most stores on the 16th.
The game has shipped out and will arrive in stores throughout the week. All stores should have it by the 16th.
