you need to scan the receipt into your system. Change the extension to .exe and run the executable. It should then act just like a self-extracting file. Enjoy the game.

I've given up all hope of getting it instore here ordered or not, also EB.com wont ship it to me for some stupid reason. So D2D or something equivalent it is.

Why is this game not available for download right from the internet. I'm sure all of us love supporting a few middle men along the way, but come on now, it's 2006(soon to be 7). There should be no reason to even release a store copy. And to make that available before the online copy makes no sense(except by caving to store requests not to release the online version until they made their happy little profit).

So, can someone, preferable someone that works for SEV, explain why this backward strategy was implemented?

I hope I don't sound rude, just trying to make sense out of something that does not make sense to me.

Maybe the danger to get hacked and then game released of the internet for free....

However for people out in the jungle like me, waiting for the online release impatiently.

Yeah it beats me too!!! I'm here waiting for the online download...coz I live in Spain...where I'm sure there ain't going to be any store copies and god am I hoping the DL will be on the 16th...

Thinking about it and from what I've read...seems to me most stores(those in other countries) will be only getting a few copies(I could be wrong) and most of them pre ordered. Makes no sense to me why they even bother with a box copy??? Middle men beware!

And for those of you thinking you "fool" just order it and have it shipped to u...did that with another game (ultima online) and then when it arrived I ended up having to pay like another 30E for some import tax or something !*??!!* They are not suckering me twice.

So I'll just have to wait... *fingers tapping*

I would have happily taken a download option,
Just that EB Games was giving away Space Empires IV Deluxe with pre-order.
2 is always better than 1.
But after playing some V, not sure I want to try IV.

An interesting idea on their half..."buy our new super cool game and we'll give u the old one free." BTW I agree, now we've played SEV(DEMO) I think very few people will go back to the old one BUT look on the bright side u'll have the game before me

I was interested in Strategy First's offer of free Star Fury. Too bad its not "free boxed copy". Man, lame that you guys are getting it first, heh.

I just got a creepy automated message from Gamestop that my pre-ordered SEV would be in the store around noon tomorrow. They turned out a few days late, but I can't say there's much to complain about considering the release date for the general populace.

whats a creepy call from eb games sound like?

"just a curteousy call to let you know your space empires 5 will be arriving tommorow... so what'cha wearing?"

or is it something more tame, like a vincent price voice or heaving breathing?

My copy got delivered by UPS today at 8:43am. Unfortunitally it's a federal holiday so the mail room here on base is closed. Usally they don't post the packages until all the mail is in and sorted... which lately is around 1pm. You better beleive I'll be watching the UPS tracking page and as soon as it says delivered I'll be down there and be like "Hey Derek, I got a package in there somewhere and I want it now! I should have had it Friday but the distrubutor F*ed up and EB didn't get it until friday so they tried to deliver it yesterday but ya'll got a day off (whatever that is) so yeah, UPS says it's here now so ya'll have it and I want it like right now!" And I will get it, go home, install it, play it and have fun!

until that time though I will be playing my copy of Tiger Woods 07 which "ships" tomorrow and will be on the shelves at my local EB on Thursday. Ofcourse I flirted up the girl there like I always do when I'm there and she slipped me a copy from their shipment that came in yesterday. Flirting is fun! I get to flirt with a 19 year old (I'm 27) AND I got Tiger Woods a day early, I rule!
