Settings.txt part II |
k, my assumption that the field in settings:
'Space Combat Maximum Time (Seconds)'
affects the amount of time in combat, why does combat always last less than 2 minutes when I have this field set to 600 (10 minutes)??? I spent 2 minutes getting all my pieces setup for a strike on a base and...end of combat.
not in the demo
haven't seen such an option in the demo, or heard anyone else mention it. your fighters are probably flying away because you have repeatedly launched them, causing them to exhaust their supplies. i would guess you are going to have to go into a sector veiw and manually move the ships closer, but if you are using a fleet, i'd wager the constant launching of fighters exhausted the supplies of all your ships, not just the carrier and fighters, and that noone is able any longer to fire a single shot, which is why its timing out in 20 seconds. I could be wrong, but you'll definetly want to check.
but yeah, the demos design doesn't leave alot of room to organize your fleet prior to a fight. it does seem you atleast have to the count of 5 on the timer so long as the battle starts with willing and able participants.
Re: Settings.txt part II
There is the option "space combat only ends time up or no enemies"
set it to true

Re: Settings.txt part II
? I never had any problems but then I never went higher than 5 minutes. I'll have to experiment some more.
Re: Settings.txt part II
The only problem I have with the turn ending is when I send boarding parties that are still active when my ship dies. My boarding parties would have taken the ship but the turn ends making me lose both ships.
Re: Settings.txt part II
That would be a good case for not ending combat until all fighting is over. Unfortunately, the AI can't tell the difference between that and retreating ships or drones circling around the edges.

Automatic combat ending
Combat ends automatically when the game decides nothing is going to happen anymore - for instance all your units moving away from targets, or chasing faster fleeing ships.
You can, however, order your units to attack again (just like you ordered them to attack a sector in the first place), and all units will be where you left off. You can even go into the sector view (one of the top right buttons in the ship list) and PLACE your ships where you want them, and then attack a second time.
