How would I retexture ships in Space Empires V.All I wanna do is change the color a bit.

where in the game directory are the texture files, what format are they in, and would paint.net work for editing the files?

All of the models and textures for the ships of an empire are contained in the Empires\EmpireName folder. All textures are bitmaps.
