Object Name Problems

Submitted by Atomizer4 on Tue, 2007-08-07 12:21. Space Empires V General

Is there any way to choose what object's names are shown above them or is it just all object names or no object names with the "show names" button? Example: The game starts with warp point names shown only. If I press the "show names" button is shows either all names or no names, but I only want warp point names, so would I need to load my saved game if I accidentally pressed this button? Also, is there a way to make ships auto-rename themselves when retrofitted? Example: I have 1 "Explorer I" class ship and 3 "Explorer II" class ships. I retrofit "Explorer I 0001" to an "Explorer II" class ship but I still need to rename it to "Explorer II 0004." Can this be done automatically?

You can choose what object names are displayed in the empire options window.

Hi there,
in answer to your question
"Is there any way to choose what object's names are shown above them or is it just all object names or no object names with the "show names" button? Example: The game starts with warp point names shown only. If I press the "show names" button is shows either all names or no names, but I only want warp point names, so would I need to load my saved game if I accidentally pressed this button?"

Go to Empire Options / Systems display / look at display on right hand side? tick which u want then go back to main screan
the changes will already be done. these settings will save when you next save game. You can mess around untill you acheive what you want, you dont have to reload? just remember to save game when happy with settings.

As for your question? "is there a way to make ships auto-rename themselves when retrofitted? Example: I have 1 "Explorer I" class ship and 3 "Explorer II" class ships. I retrofit "Explorer I 0001" to an "Explorer II" class ship but I still need to rename it to "Explorer II 0004." Can this be done automatically?"

theres no automatic way that i know of?
Only manual rename.

Hope this helps Spuda
