Setting up a new game

Submitted by Illvin Bujold on Wed, 2007-08-01 09:03. Space Empires V General

Actually I've managed to play a few. Smiling

No, my question really is if I set up a new game with a higher starting tech-level will the AI players in a single player game also benefit from this or will I simply start of with a devastating advantage? Besides of course having a brain as compared to the AI's artificial (and very realistic) lack of one.

Yes - they will add as many techs as they can afford. In fact, in some ways it can be advantage, because racial AIs can add their unique tech areas, where human players can't.

They can. It's only somewhat complicated to do.

I have to assume then that you must do something to help the AI players to choose their techs. I say this because I've tried a couple of games now with higher starting tech-levels and can see no signs of it applying to the AI. 500k points should make a difference somewhere...

(Edit: I am using BM 1.09)

It does. Often they apply it to expensive theoretical or racial tech levels, rather than into a few select categories.

Hmm. Makes sense. In the game I'm wasting my life on now, I've noticed some pretty good organic armor.
