Is it possible to create Premade Empires / War / Battle Scenario's ?

Submitted by Stardog on Tue, 2007-07-31 09:22. Space Empires V General

Wz up guy's

I was just wondering if you could create Pre-Built Empires?

If it is possible you could:For the Computer Player (AI).

1) From the start of the Game the AI would have multiple colonies to draw resources from.

2) AI would have alot of Ship's/Fleets premade for him at the start of the game & maybe a template for the AI as "How to & What to Construct" & "When to Upgarde" the Ship's, Bases, Platforms Ect and the amount of each type.

3) Would it be possible to give the AI a Battle Strategy?
As in when to attack and where & maybe even give the AI Allies.

You could pick your playing pref -
You could be the Great "Iron Fisted" Evil Empire or if you want The Goody Goody "Peace&Love to all" Empire.

I would think that theses Scenario's / Games will not last long. You are not going to be able to build this super great Empire / Republic / Federation Ect. Then go to WAR.
It could be that after so may turns everone comes out Blasting!.....

What do you guys Think?........

It wouldn't be too hard to create a scenario like this. The easiest way would be to start a new game with a good amount of research points upfront for the AIs - but don't use them up for the human player. Then run about 50 or 100 turns to build up the AI empires. It might be a good idea to use manual placement during game setup to make sure the AI empires aren't right on top of the human player.

Once you've reached a good starting point, you can make the save game into a scenario. I don't have my SE:V install with me, but as I recall it's pretty easy to make it a scenario. Basically editing a text file to describe the scenario etc.

Can you edit planet ownership, technology, etc in the data files?

The Galaxy would be a fixed shape, planet ownerships would be preassigned, technology would be set at whatever then you begin at turn one. This way you can customize the Empires, starting positions, ships, etc.

No. The scenario text file only controls the message displayed about the scenario. You'd need a full blown scenario editor to do a scenario the way that you'd like.

Thanks for the imput Capt.Kwok

When you speak of running up the turns to beef up the AI would you/could you have control over the Ships&Types & Units built & The Fleet set-up or just let the "AI" do it.

To bad in that you can't have more than 1 human player when playing the "AI" . If you could do this. You could have 2 or 3 human players & Build/Set-Up the Empiers yourself and then give control back to the "AI" and run up the Game for 20 ,30 even 50 turns. Anyway if you have anymore ideas just let me know.I'll give them all a try.

O Yea Thanks for everything you do to make this game more enjoyable & fun !!!... My hats off to you Sir!!...

But As I have said before MM has build a Killer Game/Engine from which "If the TIME & M$NEY$ are put in to it" could be the greatest 4X Space game Ever!!

Thanks again>>

You can easily switch between AI and player control for any race via the players menu during the game. Note that the default password for an empire is "master".
