balance mod crash

Submitted by bqspearman on Sat, 2007-07-21 06:48. Space Empires V General

I just installed the ballance mod, I'm guessing i'm less then 100 turns into the game and it is locking up. I have haven't even had any first contacts yet. Is anyone else having any problems (1 gb ram, 3700 amd 64 , 200 gb hd runging xp mediacenter, ati radeon express 200,im playing via steam).I have had crashing issues with stock game, before the patch updates. Now the stock runs fairly smoothly if you like "KICKING PUPPIES". I would appreciate any imput offered.

P.s.
I'm new to space empires 5 i love the community aspect. It seems really cool to beable to get mods for free to change game play, but considering it was sold as retail game and even if it required $10-15 bucks more to buy, I would expect the game to play alot better. That said i do see the genius in the game and believe if the buggs were worked out and if the Ai was smarter then a pile of rocks, this could take turn based strategy games to another level. I would still buy space empires 6. I just hope there is more beta testing and that there is system setup for live multiplayer games.

Could you be more precise about how it's locking up? Did exiting the game and loading from your last autosave help?

There is a system set up for live multiplayer games; its called TCP/IP mode. There are options for it at game setup.

It was a steam issue. My firewall was set to allow steam acess to the internet but i had the firewall set to ask first on all. this was causing the lock up i guess something in the game and with steam didn't agree with this setting. I didn't relize earlier because i was launching the game from the steam panel, the firewall permission pop up never appeared, and steam was able to install updates. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this. I hope this may help the next guy or gal.
P.s.
I need to look into the live play thanks fryon.
