Question about system facilities and about launching stuff in simul. games |

1.
System facilities often say 'only 1 per system'.
Can I have a system robotoid factory and a system mineral scanner at the same time in one system? Or a Robotoid factory and system computer complex for that matter? Or would that be a waste of slots?
2.
In normal games you can launch units and give them orders right away. (For example fighters, drones). In simultaneous games you have to wait one turn until they become available. Is there a way around that? Can I give units an order right away after launching in simultanous? Or will I truely have to wait until they are in orbit?

#2 - I also tried turning on the minister in charge of launching drones, but he didn't launch any of them.
Since nobody is answering #1, I'm gonna take a stab and say the intent of "1 per system" is to save you from having to put one medical lab, one pacification center, one robotoid factory, on every planet. You can have all of those, you just can't have more than one.
Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
To be exact, you CAN build more than one system wide facility per system, but there are no use (more than one doesn't stack) to build more than one.

Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
If available I would set all my units to "auto launch" just so that I could see which planets had units on the main map, and so I could move them the turn they were built. That could be an easy fix. Letting units launch to waypoints like ships would be even better.

Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
Wow - thanks, Myrath! There is a lot of helpful stuff in that menu. No more click the planet, choose the planet instead of the ships, right click the planet to see how many satellites are on it. I'll just go see them and pick them up. I think the resupply icon will be handy too.
I'm also gonna try getting rid of the hex grid -- it just looks too cool without it. Is there any way to keep the computer from turning the Combat Grid back on every turn in simultaneous games?
Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
Still; a loss about the instant launch of units though; I think I'll report that to malfador. I think it is a bug, as it does work in 'normal non simultaneous games'
~Myrath
Its not a bug; it would be a violation of the fundamental nature of simultaneous execution to have orders executed immediately. It would be great to be able to issue a "launch and move fighters to" type order, but executing the launch order immediately is not the right way to do it.

Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
How would that be problematic exactly? We can already instantly scrap cargo!
Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
Thats another cludge that shouldn't have been handled that way. Instead of erroneously displaying the lack of cargo, the game should display the cargo as marked for scrapping. Cargo is not actually scrapped instantly; merely an order to do so is placed in the plr file and it is scrapped when the turn is processed.

Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
Does that means scrapped cargo could actually be destroyed before it's scrapped? Otherwise, if it doesn't have any conflict with the game, why not make it easier for the player?

Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
I have a quick question myself similar to the launch question.
I have a destroyer that lays and sweeps for mines but anytime during combat i order it to deploy the mines, nothing happens and the ship just sits there but when I try to do it again, the window shows that they are already deployed and yet I see nothing- am I doing something wrong or is it a bug or what? Thanks in advance.

You can't see mines in combat. They are there, though.

Re: Question about system facilities and about launching stuff i
#2 - I tried using waypoints to tell the planet to send the drone straight to a waypoint, but it didn't work. I think planets should automatically send units to the same waypoint as ships if they have space movement. That would solve the launch issue and the problem I have with building drones and having them sit in the planet's cargo, forgotten.
