Problem with "Galaxy Creation"

Submitted by Valsum on Thu, 2007-07-12 10:33. Space Empires V FAQs

Yeah, every time I try to set up a new game, the game freezes when it has done about 5% of Galaxy Creation. I'm using BalanceMod (last version) but same happens in the stock game.

What happens? I want to be able to play different games, not only Quick Start (which works) Sad

Does this happen on all quadrant types, or just the one you're trying?

I tried balance mod a couple revisions ago and couldn't get a couple of the quadrant types to work with it. Others did.

Galaxy Creation

I had this same problem if I expanded the galaxy size past 200 systems. It worked with 150 systems so I left it at that. Once I got it to work but it only put warp points in the home system. So I was unable to expand without developing the appropriate technology,

Hi guys when you changed settings, did you change both parts?
The 255 systems is added in two places SEE below:
=======================================================================================
GAME SETTINGS DATA FILE
=======================================================================================

Maximum Number Of Systems:
Number of Systems the galaxy can contain. The maximum value for this
setting is 255. Maximum Number Of Systems for Large Quadrant is 225

=======================================================================================
*BEGIN*
=======================================================================================

//---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allow Music := TRUE
Allow Sound := TRUE
Support Multithreading := FALSE
//---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Game Date := 24000
//---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maximum Number Of Systems := 255
System Hex Side Point Width := 20.0
System Width In Hexes := 26
System Height In Hexes := 20
System Center Point Xpos := 325.0
System Center Point Ypos := 325.0
System Point Radius From Center := 410.0
//---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Minimum Number Of Systems Small Quadrant := 10
Maximum Number Of Systems Small Quadrant := 20
Minimum Number Of Systems Medium Quadrant := 30
Maximum Number Of Systems Medium Quadrant := 60
Minimum Number Of Systems Large Quadrant := 60
Maximum Number Of Systems Large Quadrant := 255

Also did you extend your system names list to 255 names in length?

the 2 setting changes and additional names are a must?
The cutting from my setting above will only allow 60-255 systems in a large quadrant game setup?
This setup has worked fine for me?

Hope this helps

Yes I changed both settings and I have nearly 6000 names in system names, I will try it again when the next balance mod comes out. As far as I can remember I had no problems with stock.

Hi guys the info i put up earlier about the settings has been change by patch 1.44?
It defaulted the 255 back to 100(The Origional value)
It has not effected the system names document though?
Remember the 255 needs to be changed in both places?
Hope this helps
