Faulty Intel

Submitted by dmcdonald on Fri, 2007-07-06 10:49. Space Empires V After Action Reports

The Terran Imperium had taken four systems, believing that they were the only race that the gods had created. However, after a routine mission to secure a series of warp points with satellite warp monitors armed with Capital ship missles the Imperium would never feel safe again.

After laying the trap the logistic vessal, "The Sheppard", went through the warp point to leave a listening satellite on the other size, only to find eight hostile alien ships with a trap of thier own.

Unable to warp back, The Sheppard fled with eight foul alien attack frigates in chase. A quick check showed that the aliens were traveling at 12 kps, gaining on the frigates engines of 10 kps. Unarmed, things were looking pretty grim for the crew of The Sheppard, but they still had enough satellites to guard one more warp point on board.

Deploying the satellites in the path of the incoming ships was enough to destroy one of the ships, and cripple another three, but in the end, The Sheppard was overwelmed.

When news of the loss of our brothers was announced, the whole empire cried out for the blood of the infidels. Four missle boats, eight gun boats, two sky hook troop transports with 50 raptor tanks on board were dispached seek bloodly revenge.

The battle was shiftly over. The mutant aliens could not penterate the gunboats thick armour, and the day was won without a single loss.

With the warp point now secure, the Imperium had to use this victory to put a end to the alien menance once and for all.

Intelligence officers produces an empire report, showing that enemy were weak, with only one frigate and a colony to their name. There was no time for the forces at the gate to repair and resupply, and so the attack on the nearby alien colony was ordered to commence at once.

But it appears a dreadful mistake had be made. As the Delta fleet entered orbit around the alien home world, over two dozen alien frigates met them.

The missle boats were destroyed early on, dispite the brave efforts of the escorting gunboat crews. The teeth of the fleet were blunted, leaving heavly armoured but lightly armed ships to tackle over a dozen enemy attack frigates. Two gun boat frigates were taken down, and in another the crew was wiped out. Ammo was running low for the five remaining ships.

Then, just as the day seemed lost, the aliens called a general retreated, leaving the planet undefended. Confused, the Imperium commander, while the enemy were being chased out of the system, order the Sky Hook Troop transports to attack the aliens world.

The world itself was guarded by satellites, but the brave crews delivered their cargo intact, before one of the transports was destroyed and the other forced to flee.

The ground battle wasnt a battle at all, 50 our finest raptor tanks againist five alien vechiles.

Later it came to light that Terran superior armour won the day. The aliens ran out of ammo trying to destroy the gun boats, and with the capture of their resupply depo and construct yard, Delta fleet was about to resupply, repair, and hunt the aliens down over the next half a year, who had not a single uranium round left.

A planet in the Imperium home system was renamed Sheppard World, in honour of those who fell in this great war, and a great Death Temple was build in their name.

The aliens, after being taught about the correct nature of universe, were welcomed into empire, and set to work in the mines of the hydrogen worlds of the empire for the glory of the Imperium.
