Antialiasing

Submitted by Nicky21 on Wed, 2007-07-04 16:24. Space Empires V General

I'd really wish anti-aliasing was possibile in this game. the graphics would benefit a lot from it!

Not sure about ATI cards, but I was able to get anti-aliasing working in SE-V using the NVidia Settings control panel. In there, you can configure your NVidia driver to impose AA on everything instead of the default "allow the app to control AA" behaviour. I found that my older version of the NVidia driver caused some serious flickering when I turned this on with SE-V, but an NVidia driver update to the latest and greatest made the problem go away. Its working nicely for me now and I have to say it looks a lot better. I recommend inclusion of AA support for any future SE releases.

Does it have a huge impact on game performance?

On my last computer it made the difference between 40 FPS and >60FPS, but as long as you feel it's smooth enough to play with anti aliasing on, it's usually worth it.
