Removing/Replacing Facilities

Submitted by Stefan Schilling on Sat, 2007-06-23 15:12. Space Empires V FAQs

Hi there,

I'm new to SE V (and IV, for that matter. Havn't tried it yet, tho).
That being said, it won't surprise you that i don't know much about the game's mechanics and technologies - i've barely managed to backfill all my planets with troops before all of them started to riot, after i found out why my ppl start rioting anyways (with no explanation of reasons ingame.)

I just found another way to make my ppl happy - urban pacification centers. I'd like to add some to my systems, but i've already build as many facilities as i was allowed to do.
How can i destroy some of them to get back that space and fill it with pacifiers?
(and why am i allowed to drug my citizens? Sticking out tongue)

I would suggest using the search function before asking as this question has been answered a lot. I can understand the question though as it is in a wierd spot. The function you're looking for is under scrap cargo, which is middle of the bottom row of buttons if I remember correctly. I hope you can find it, and I hope you enjoy SEV.

You've got to use the "Scrap Cargo" button -- and there are two ways to get there. The first way is to select the planet from the main windown (where you can see the solar systems, and such), press the "Cargo Orders" button, in the lower right hand corner, and then hit the "Scrap Cargo" button in the following sub-menu.

THe second way is to go into the construction queue (the little wrench button, at the top of the main interface), select the planet you want to scrap a facility on, and then hit the "Scrap Cargo" button, on the right side of the screen.

Once you get into the Scrap Cargo menu, scroll down until you find a facility you want to scrap, check its box, and then hit the scrap button.

Hope I've been helpful!

Hum.... I read that post about using jettison cargo and I have been using that proceedure but I don`t think it is unreasonable to suspect there may be an alternative process; one which will allow initial construction resources to be recouped as scrapping ships allows.

You need to root out your cause for the Riots as well.

Things that make your people unhappy (off the Top of my head): Being at war, enemy ships in system, racial traits, intel against you and probably a few more.

I think you only need 10 troops on a planet to affect moral, so try that number before you add more. Each troop you build raises your maintence costs thereafter.

Also, you can build Riot Control troops with no movwment, weapons or anything. That makes them cheaper to build and maintain.

The only way I knew to scrap was by selecting the planet and rclicking in open space to get the menu. Learning, learning, always learning.

Riot control troops (I call them peacekeepers) can be a small troop with just a cockpit. Really cheap to build and maintain. Of course, if you want to defend against planetary invasion, your troops will need weapons and such. But the AI never invades planets. It will just glass them. Weapons Platforms help out a lot there.
