warp point opener?.....

This is confusing. Can`t find any such animal in the manual. Is this gamer slang for misusing the warphole weapon to gain access to other systems or am I just looking at an incomplete manual? What techs (physics?) do you research to achieve the ability to open warp points?

Firstly, the printed manual is very obsolete; the PDF manual is only mostly obsolete Smiling Secondly, components can vary wildly between mods. Between these two, the only real way to insure you're getting correct information is through the in-game info, or by searching the data files.

A quick search of components.txt in the Data directory shows that in stock (vanilla / unmodded), the component you're probably looking for is the Gravitational Quantum Resonator (GQR). It requires Stellar Manipulation (SM) of 35 for a level 1 GQR, increasing by 1 for each level of SM until a max of level 30 GQR at SM 64.

It can open a warp point to a system 50 + (([%Level%] - 1) * 5) light years away, so that's 50 ly for a level 1 GQR, up to 195 ly for a max level 30 GQR.
