LRM's or LRF's

Submitted by rukoth on Tue, 2006-10-03 17:38. SE:V MODs

anyone working on an Anacreon-esque Long Range Missile Mod? a unit type missile, housed on planets, that can be fired in mass at fleets or other planets. limited range, possibly same system or 1 jump. Or a long range fighter mod(no carrier required)?

maybe...

was there a kamikazee warhead for drones that would simulate a missile? i've only used them a little because of the bugs, but it seems size and cost are a little steep, especially for the long range fighters. I was thinking X-Wing here for a starwars mod

Kamikaze

Submitted by tmcc on Tue, 2006-10-03 19:58.

Haven't played with drones yet in the SEV demo but in SEIV there certainly are Kamikaze warheads available. So if it's not in there yet I am sure it will be.

Drones

Submitted by Phoenix-D on Tue, 2006-10-03 23:50.

That's pretty much all drones do in stock, actually. If they have weapons they will fire them, then ram. Unfortunately in stock they're ridiclously expensive.

Drones in the demo just sit there.

Submitted by AngleWyrm on Wed, 2006-10-04 01:19.

Drones in the demo don't move, so they can't ram and explode their warhead. It ruins drones, so it's an important bug to fix, but I wouldn't be too surprised if MM hasn't already figured out what caused it and repaired the errant code.

what about decoy drones, survelence drones, probes

Submitted by rukoth on Wed, 2006-10-04 17:43.

what about drones that are decoys, possibly mimic'ing a larger ships signature, or drones used as probes, is such a thing possible within the current game, or modable through the game?

Moddable, yes, in stock no.

Submitted by Phoenix-D on Wed, 2006-10-04 17:56.

See subject. Probes are easy, decoys not so much. You could set a drone to look like a certain ship but they player would be able to see its unit type, and unless the components matched it wouldn't act like that ship.

Yeah drones are what you

Submitted by Elucidus on Tue, 2006-10-24 14:11.

Yeah drones are what you want, but they seem pretty limited. They have multiple types of warheads. But once drones are launched they have to be given a target and will strike that target only, they can't resupply and can't be given new orders unless the original was destroyed already (this is what it says, i haven't confirmed this part). They can make jumps though.

Fighters are more what i would see X-wings like. They can patrol the system, they just can't jump. They are also faster than the larger ships so are capable of catching them easier.

Pretty deadly too..

Submitted by crward on Tue, 2006-10-24 14:17.

But they're expensive because they use the large-sized Ion Engines.

In the "commercial game" they do work, they just have to have some ordnance in order to ram.

(and if they ram, they seem to stay alive, but with 0 ordnance and supply -- an amusing little bug.)
