Problem building ringworlds (and sphereworlds?)

Submitted by Ichinin on Mon, 2007-06-11 13:51. Space Empires V General

Hi.

I have 10K of each resource on the same spot as the ringworld module, i have evacuated the starsystem of colonies (With a Stellar torpedo Shocked) and tried building. I have used the large bases as "container" for the 2K components.

When i issue "Create stellar construction" it gives an order to the object (Starbase with 0 movement) to go to sector 0,0 and build the item. I have tried this one sector + more sectors away from the star and even tried building everything on sector 0,0 (Inside the star) but it just wont build.

Am i doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Place all the ships on the same hex adjacent to the star and highlight (click on) the star when you order the build.

Still have the same problem. I tried the hexagon directly adjacent to the star (0,0) and the one beyond that. I tried both twice but it didnt work.

However, when i tried it once it sent me to the "ship 2 ship" combat screen where it showed me all bases and i could move those around. Didnt know what to do at that screen. I tried earlier with a modded stellar manipulation thing and at that time the sphereworld just popped in without going to the "ship 2 ship" screen.

Note to clearify things: Right now i am playing vanilla (unmodded) SE5.

You need to put the constructor component on a ship with movement, not a base. I'm pretty sure this is treated as a bug, but it is rather minor compared to most other bugs right now.

All sectors within a range of 6 (from 0,0) need to be completely empty. not sure what this torpedo you mentioned does as ive not seen it.
I find building all the materials on movable units is most effective as often i miss judge the clear space.

Yes i know that, it also says that on the component description along with several other requirements.

And i mean the "Stellar Nucleonic Torpedo" (if you are capable of building ringworlds, then you should have it). With one of these shoved into a sun i garantee that there wont be any problems finding enough empty space Laughing out loud but you have to rebuild the star.

I prefer O-class stars myself... nice shiny blue light for my citisens Smiling

Um you can colonize them after you build them.
