It's so annoying when you can't find something you found before...

Submitted by Lector Rae on Wed, 2007-06-06 08:44. Space Empires V General

Alright, I need some assistance here. I'm looking for a list/table of all the possible abilities used in the game. I was convinced it was in the manual, but I can't seem to find it now. The only listing I can find is a reference to a Description_Abilities.txt file that...isn't there.

How did I lose the abilities table?

In the docs directory, there is modding.pdf which contains a list of all the abilities etc.

Thanks! It seems one ability I was looking for doesn't exist. I wanted to mod in some advanced weapon mounts, namely accuracy, long-range, and rapid fire. It seems the ability to change the reload time doesn't exist.

Is there another way I could add this to a component mount, some code I could add somewhere (if such is possible)?

Accuracy and range are possible - look at the stock weapons platform mounts, I believe they have both of those. You're correct in that reload time can't be changed with a mount, though.

In the real world, in a good majority of the existing fictional SF settings, and in various other games, point defense systems are not fundamentally different technologies than other weapons. Being able to handle point defense as a mount type would be nice for modding purposes, but without reduced reload time is isn't going to work very well.

I agree with this. I wanted a Rapid-Fire mount that would be shorter range and less accurate as well as a point defense mount, thus eliminating the need for a whole line of research. Then the player could just scale down whatever weapon to use as a PD mount.

In any event, I'll make due without.

You could always just add hard-mounted versions of the weapons that you want to be PD-ified..
