Which one of these 3 games would you buy?

Submitted by thing on Sat, 2007-06-02 18:13. Space Empires V General

which one would you buy if you had the money and a modern computer?

1. Battlefield 2142. graphics are incredible,it's like being in the game,it got lots of vechiles, and the good thing is,you can drive ALL the vechiles.modding is considered hacking if you use the mods on multiplayer, and you can't create new vechiles and weapons.

2. Space empires V. graphics suck. but it's got things like manipulating the systems, creating suns and planets and more stellar manipulation abilities. the strategys are just...INCREDIBLE, you can do whatever you want, go for a huge bussiness empire or a military empire. it's your choice. you can mod a huge part of the game.

3.Command and conquer 3. the graphics are alive! it's straetgy is...well. 3 out of 10. there's not much strategy...jsut build stuff and atack. it's pretty dumb... your only way of atacking is the all out war strategy, it sends eveything you've got to the enemy, then there's a graphic battle. when it's finished, the winner atacks the enemy base and destroys it's deffenses, then it desotrys the buildings. nothing special...strategy sucks, dunno if it's moddable.

choose one of these 3 and explain why you want that game.

Considering that 1 and 3 are flash-in-the-pan games, I think the answer is obvious. Perhaps if you want to choose between other deep strategy games...

Space Empires V. For a RTS or FPS game to get my attention it has to be very special, and that involves more then pretty graphics.

1 and 3. The fact that the AI of C&C3 and B2142 can actually get you killed set these games apart from SE V.

Already own 2 and 3, Surprisingly to me I've been playing SEV more. So I guess that's my answer, don't intend to buy Battlefield.

2. space empires V because it's great, vechiles are unlimitied,it can be modded and you can change the galaxy when you've got lvl 75 stellar manipulation

3. C&C Tiberium wars. will never buy it because i think it sucks

I so totally agree

BTW at least we get free patches...battlefield did a not very gd patch with some new maps, a couple of new vechiles, gave it a name......and then tried to get you to fork out 10$ for it!...I don't think the new BF 2142 will be much different.

RTS games...I've played my share and the only two I really think are gd are Dawn of war (but not the two expansions) and Star craft...a real shame their was never star craft II...but both of these have to be played mulitplayer for them to be any fun!

I think nowadays, too many poor games hide behind cool graphics...give me game deep game play anyday!

bf1942 was ok but FH MADE that game. bf2142? if the engine can match the quality of the mods then yeh.

C&C3? tried it and it is the same old shite from 1997. fantastically unimaginative and uninspiring. non strat game, if ever there was one. snakes and ladders for pc. dross.

SEV? apart from the dubiously weak AI in sp games [it's not very challenging] it's got a lot of potential. sod the grfx.

but these games are totally different. if you said, choose between MOO3, Galciv2 and SEV then it would be a more relevant choice.

but as it is;
1. SEV
2. BF2142
3. C&C3 [to prop up the dodgy table in the great eastern on fri night cos it always makes my pint spill when knocked].

guess what, StarCraft 2 is coming (not this year) but it's coming hard

so stick to SEV and prepare for the return of the Zerg...

(praying for a better AI doesn't hurt)

1. Starcraft 2!
2. Starcraft 2!!
3. Starcraft 2!!!

(Keeps playing starcraft-related races in SE5 until it's out - the Zerg didn't wait for Starcraft2 to return! Laughing out loud)

Agreed, Starcraft 2 is next on my wish list, depending on time until release, I may be able to slip another game in there. Could be a while according to Blizzard.

I already own Battlefield 2142 and SE5. C&C 3 I won't buy unless they do a MAJOR overhaul of gameplay mechanics, as my friend has it, we both tried it, and he wants his money back.

Battlefield 2142 is the best FPS out there, and my brother loves FPS's so I tried most of them. The only problem is a few glitches, like how you're not supposed to get on rooftops, but if you blow yourself up when friendly damage is off people can get up there, stuff like that.

SE5, well too buggy for me to suggest for someone to buy still. Give it 6 more months and I will actually play the game I paid for a long time ago. Come on, I buy it, and I still can't use it. I want a refund, but SE4 was too good for me to give up on the series. In fact, I tell everyone I know to buy SE4, its the best 4X out there, tied with Lost Empires from Pollux.

Oh, and unlike many people, I will wait a bit on Starcraft 2. Remember Halo 2? It was so anticipated that the mall I went to was packed full at midnight with 3,000 people, thats 10% of the population of where I live!!! Then when people tried it, yeah it has better graphics, but it is actually more lame than the last Halo, all you do is get a sword and you win. I will remain receptive of Starcraft 2, look past the "OMG ITS AWESOME NEW!" hype, and see if it is worth purchase. I will; wait.

Have two copys of SEV none of BF2142 but I played the demo and thought about getting it but shooters other than Counterstrike are not much fun and only then as multiplayer games.

The Graphics on SEV work and with the right mods can be improved but its game play that sells me games not graphics.

Bought SEV, mostly to support the effort. I no longer play because it's not fun for me to re-design the same designs, strategies, fleets, treaties, etc with each re-start.

Bought Galactic Civilizations 2, mostly on principle. The ship design thing is novel, but limited, and the game is shallow. I did not pay real money for the expansion pack. It didn't seem to add any fun to the game for me.

I bought Supreme Commander, and it bored me to tears. Long drawn out build requirements, poor fps, and an economic system that stalls badly enough to lose the game. Unless you build exactly the certain perscribed order. Excellent waypoint system though; best there is.

I bought CNC3 and have liked it somewhat. First there was the tank spammers. Then people discovered spider-basing sonic emitters. Then there was the Scrin Wormholed exploding buzzers. Now there's the Scrin spider-base/Mothership. The game is probably doomed to the realm of nerf-the-tactic via patches.

The last FPS that I spent any time playing was the half-life mod Natural Selection.
