Ground Combat Oddities...any explanations or suggestions? |

Using GidMod w/latest patch.
I've got a major problem and a small issue.
The big problem:
I landed about 10 fighters on a planet. My fighters and the enemy troops moved for about 2 seconds and then froze. We both had weapons capable of shooting each other. The clock kept ticking, but the units just sat there. I tried ordering the fighters to ram the troops, but they just sat there. Finally, combat ended in a tie, but my units were lost (I guess that part makes sense...if there's a "tie" in ground combat, the invader always looses).
Why would the units freeze??? Even the retreating units (see next paragraph) stopped retreating.
Second issue was that half of the fighters didn't have supplies. From what I've been reading in the forums, due to a bug, little ships never get supplied if there are bigger ships in the system. So, as long as my fighters are in a cargo ship (not carrier) they will never get resupplied? I'll have to do that manually?? If so...g*d, how tedious....
Any explanations or suggestions for me?

You can change your supply priorities. It's in the crown menus somewhere. Haven't verified that it works 100% right, but it seems to be okay.
Re: Ground Combat Oddities...any explanations or suggestions?
I once had a problem with units freezing in combat as soon as one tried to fire. It turned out to be because I'd made a typo in the sound effects file when I was creating a new weapon with a new sound effect. So I guess the question would be are you using stock or a mod?
As to units being lost, if both sides have survivors after ground combat ends the combat continues next turn. Although the attacker will be at a disadvantage because the defending units will be repaired if a space yard is on the planet, any destroyed militia units will be reconstituted, and finally this is another turn in which to build more defenders.

I haven't seen this specifically, but at one time I had this thing were my ships--actually, everyones ships--would just freeze in combat after a couple seconds until it timed out. Even did it in the combat simulator. Ended up being nothing...I restarted the game (or the game crashed and I restarted, whatever), after that it all went fine.
