Modding...

Okay. I'm trying to make a mod for SE5. I have a basic ship and some compnents that I want to test but it won't let me start a game unless the main empires are turned off. So I go and turn them off. Then when I start a new game I can't use any ship sets or race pics. How can I get around this? I get an error message saying something about an access violation when I leave the main empires on. Thanks for any help.

Forgot to add this... I know it's been discussed but has anyone managed to figure out a way to make inter-system hyperdrives? I can't find anything if it's been done. Also is there anyway to make something like the Allegiance Subverter from SE4? I know the one in SE5 takes over ships too but only for the duration of a battle. I was wondering if there was a way to make a permanent one.

To this day know one is close enough to being genius enough to make an FTL Drive.

I don't see why you should need to turn the main AI empires off. Does it give you a message?

Yes. When I run the mod with the main empires on it says I get an access violation in "se5.exe".

Thats odd. Whenever I make components nothing like that happens...

Thanks for the help. I figured out the problem. You need to have 4 or more ship sizes in the vehiclesizes file. I only had one for testing. Works now.
