Alliance Snafu: How the Confederation Became at War with the Alliance of Free Stars |

The Alliance of Free Stars began between the Terran Confederation and the artsy Abbidon Enclave only after the Terran committee agreed to change the Alliance charter to not allow other members into the alliance. The constituents of the Confederation were baffled that the comittee would acquiesce on this issue. Apparently the comittee head had not realized that the Enclave had changed the alliance charter when he sent the acceptance reply. It was later found that the head had been only getting 5 hours of sleep for the week prior due to a lack of priorities involving an unnamed computer game....
The Confederation, frustrated at the Enclaves resistance to allow other members into the Alliance, withdrew from the Alliance. The reasoning being that an alliance of one is no alliance at all. The next month the Confederation planned to start another Alliance with the Abbidon with terms acceptable to the people of both the Enclave and the Confederation.
After the Confederation withdrew, however, the Abbidon used their sole voting power to allow new members and accepted 4 new empires into the Alliance, not including the Terrans. Two of the new members were at war with the Terrans.
It is not clear how the Abbidons were able to change the charter, communicate with 4 other empires, and accept them into the Alliance all in one month.
The Terran Confederation is now at war with the Alliance of Free Stars, the alliance that they had created.
