Get into Orbit Dammit! |

Is there a global default toggle that can be set to "auto launch" for units built with orbital capability, Sats, fighters and the like?
Launching the stuff you build is a bit of a chore the shortest launch countdown I have found is this:
6...Go to planet
5...Select the planet
4...Press "L"
3...Select the units you want to launch
2...Select "Launch Unit"
1...Select "Close"
LIFT OFF!!!
Boy, the tax office would be hard pressed to make this simple task more difficult. Having a default set to launch everything as it is built would be good. If you want to load the units onto ships it is no more hassle doing it from orbit than from cargo.
Now if you are the sneaky type you might want to keep your units hidden in cargo to surprise any attackers. But I am not a sneaky type. As a side note I think players should only be able to see the units around their own planets. This gives the Al a break (which they need). Attacking would be riskier and more fun.
If anyone knows a shorter countdown or if Aaron ever worked in the tax office I would be grateful.

The only problem with launch minister is I think it will launch mines as well.
One thing I did in the last leg of my game to protect my planets and you can use a modified version of this strat.
1:Is to go to remote launch.
2:select fighters first.
3:Repeat that but do Sats next
4:Tell the planet to repeat orders.
Now it will launch all fighters and sats every turn.

Re: Get into Orbit Dammit!
Does it work in Sequential Turns games? Can you order a planet to "sentry" (Y) if not? Otherwise you can make a transport which would do the same thing, you don't have to fear the support costs, since in this case you probably play against the AI only...

Re: Get into Orbit Dammit!
It worked in my PBW game. I was using it to launch mines around some planets for defense but I was to lazy to keep checking them every turn to launch stuff specifically. I'm not quite sure if sentry works however.

Re: Get into Orbit Dammit!
You can also launch all units of a unit type using the appropriate command, it's a bit faster. Also there is a "launch minister", but it looks like it doesn't really work.
