Question: When to scrap the Climate Control Facility?

Submitted by Litcube on Tue, 2007-05-08 23:34. Space Empires V General

I have a climate control facility on a planet. I'm waiting for the planet to hit Optimal level before I scrap it. Sometimes the log doesn't tell me that the climate control facility has "reached the maximum climate". Am I to scrap the facility when I see the planet hit optimal or when the log says it's reached maximum? Are there hidden levels of optimal that I'm not seeing?

There should always be a log message, but if it doesn't seem to pop up, scrapping when conditions are optimal is fine enough.

I'm curious about this. I know there are outside forces that can damage conditions on a planet- rad bombs, catastrophic events etc. But once a planet has reached optimal conditions, it doesn't have any built in degenerative variables that will cause conditions to worsen over time?

"it doesn't have any built in degenerative variables that will cause conditions to worsen over time?"

Only if you use the *colonize with X number of cattle* command line prompt, you then get more shit you can look at over time from them, which causes global warming to occur....damn cattle are the cause, not humnans!.

Otoh, scrapping it, only to be hit by a meteor storma and have it lowered again would be the pit right?, now where is that save game pososition again?.

Lots of production facilities will damage an atmosphere. I filled a planet up with monolith facilities and it was very hard on the planet. With 20 monoliths, I had to have 3 climate controls to keep up with the damage.

To my knowledge, there is nothing you can build on a planet that will damage conditions. Currently, I believe only intelligence operations against colonies will do this. Exception being possibly bombardment, but I don't know exact workings so if Cap Kwok or other modders could fill in the gaps...?
