Question about patching |
Is there a way for me to either back up a previous patch in the game folder or some other way to be able to easily switch from one version to another so I can continue to play a PBW game?
Re: Question about patching
Well I suppose it would have to do with which version you use, I'm not familiar with steam but I think you can't, it patches each time you play.
For the retail build you could do a modification of what I do, I don't use the patcher install exe to update my game as I have my own little mod under constructions and I need to find out what's been changed, expectially in scripts. so it should be possible just to extract all the patch files into the mod directory under a patch namge (117, 125, 133) and keep seperate copies of the EXE (SE5.exe) renamed to 117SE5.exe.
To launch a patch just execute the correct EXE you want to use, and launch the game using the "Mod" to match the patch, alternatively since it's PBW and you need the mod to match the game (never tried otherwise) you could just again make seperate copies of the patch, but use a batch file to rename the directory to the standard directory name (standard SE5) each time you launch it, and make a seperate one to name it back when your done.
Depends on how simple you call that lol, harder to setup but to run is simple...
Re: Question about patching
easyest way is to make a seperate install and patch that to the required version since all previous patches are still avalible.

Re: Question about patching
What I do whenever a new patch comes out is copy my "SE5" folder to "SE5 v1.25" or whatever the old version was, then apply the patch; I just delete the old version as soon as all my old games either upgrade or end...

Re: Question about patching
Or perhaps some kind of switcher program?
