Question about Spaceyard Bases

I was wondering if it mattered whether spaceyard bases have supply or not, like does it reduce their production rate?

No and yes, they draw upon the planet they orbit for actual production MATERIALS, but the production amount per/turn is alot lower than your plantary space yards.

If a ship yard base is completly out of supply it wont build but this is not normaly a problem as they like most bases dont use all that much supply unless they get involved in a battle and are easyly toped up by resuply bases

WTF are you guys talking about? Space base yards do not need supply at all. Since when do you think that they did? Unless they have weapons or something, they need no supply. Are you guys talking about supplies as Resources? It doesnt need those either. It draws from the treasury, evan if there is no space port in the system. But even then it doesnt make sense! Unless it's a mobile base, but then that just makes it stop moving. It can still build.

So bottum line:
You do not need supply on ship yard bases. Trust me on this.

So it doesn't matter if it says "No supply left" on my spaceyard base?

Also, how come my spaceyard base is producing at 1,350 even though it only is rated at producing 1,000?

I never put any supply storage on my shipyard bases and they construct and repair without any problems.

There can be many reasons that your construction rate is higher than normal like population, emergency build, cultrual achievements that increase efficiency, initial racial bonuses, system wide facility effect, or so.
As for bases the population doesn't work. Surely emergency build does. I have no idea about other elements.

to answer the second first the + 350 is likly due to bonuses from goverment and culture types or similar

as far as I am aware a ship or base without supply just sits there doing nothing or in the case of a ship limps along at speed one. I cant test this at the moment as this ..... laptop wont run SEV and its all I have at the moment.

I have built base ship yards in systems where I dont have any planets or supply depos and the bases build ships just fine...the bases don't have any supply pods or engines either.

This is of course a different story if you expect them to fire weapons or have their shields up...but since my shipyard bases dont have either its no problem.

Yep confirmed; Bases do NOT need supplies, except when you want to put weapons on 'm.
