Questions about Fighters... and mines.... |
It's amazing how long I've been into this game and I still run into things that I've just skipped and thus never figured out... I find it interesting the new tactics that I've been forced to explore simply because I'm playing a person rather than the AI...
So, first, once you build fighters, do they automatically launch if someone attacks the planet? Or do you have to deploy them first? What else do I need to know?
And how do you mineSWEEP? I've built a minesweeper and it's in a hex with tons of mines, but it doesn't seem to be 'sweeping?' I tried the 'Sweep' command but it wont seem to take? Do you have to have enough minesweepers to clear the entire field before they will sweep any?
And last but not least... Do mines always work? I seem to have some colony ships and other ships that encounter my minefield but have to damage... I think they retreat out of them?? How does this work?
Thanks, you're all the greatest!

Fighters do launch from the planet in combat.

Re: Questions about Fighters... and mines....
Mines works this way:
When ship/fighter group ENTER hex with not friendly mines (dose not have minefield codes), all minesweepers on all ships (entering? present on hex? i don't know, usualy you don't have other minesweepers ON enemy mines) remove all mines they can.
Then mines "attack". Et least one mine attack (i think et least per ship/fgroup), if it does not destroy target, another mine attack until there are mines/target.
So staying in mines does NOT clean them, you must move into them. And if you can move into them without being hit by them, i think you cannot sweep them.
Btw, my cheasy way how to sweep mines without sweepers: Build small fighters with one engine, lanch tham in one fighter groups and enter mines. Mine will destroy fighter which is cheaper than that mine.
