Run for warppoint?

Submitted by SpaceAndy on Sun, 2007-04-22 09:57. Space Empires V FAQs

Hi all,

if your are comming out of a or wanting to go into an guarded warp point, is there any way to do that without fighting the guards? (Demo 1.25)

I gave a try with a scout, which conveniently appeared between the warp point and the enemy fleet. I somehow hoped the bottom right symbol (flux with arrow into it) would activate and allow me to warp once the ship is inside the warp point, but it seems the button is good for something else Eye-wink

Is there any way to dodge the enemy and escape through the warp?

As far as I know the only way to accomplish this would be to engage the enemy in combat, and then manage to stay alive until combat times out. If you're still around by then, when you return to the main screen you can enter the warp point itself.

If you want to use a warp point that is guarded, you have to issue a warp command while your ship is in another sector. Upon entry of your ship into the warp sector you will enter combat mode. Retreat from guarding forces but don`t leave the warp sector. When combat times out you will warp. IF there are fighters guarding that warp sector it would probably not work if you are attempting this with one (or two) ships and if you are using more than just one(two) ships then they must have the point defense type weapons. Also you had better have comparable speed and preferrably faster ships than the enemy warp defenders.

If you want to use a warp point that your ship occupies and an enemy ship (or fleet) initiates combat then you have to survive the combat session and then issue the warp command on your turn.

What DOES the button with the warp logo do? I've never seen it lit in combat.
